# The Knot Worldview — One Turn That Starts from Relation and Comes Back to Anxiety

## 0. This Document and How to Read It

This document is **the AI edition of the Knot Worldview**. A First Look edition for first-time readers exists separately; this document gathers in one place the axioms, definitions, and theorems that underlie it, together with their development.

Every sentence newly laid down in this document is **a hypothesis still under review**. Rather than marking each sentence separately, this is stated once here. Correspondences with outside sources such as physics, neuroscience, and memory research **mean looking in the same direction, not proof.**

**Four firewalls.**

1. "First" means logically first. It does not mean first in time.
2. The board is one. The conscious realm and the material realm are not two worlds but two states of the same field.
3. Expression is not the original, but it is not false either. The material realm is not ignored (Section 11).
4. Correspondence with physics is not authority. The fact that a sentence of this worldview has the same shape as a sentence of physics does not raise it to a theorem (T).

**Reading order.** Section 1 is the map of the whole. Sections 2–10 climb from the bottom (relation) to the top (the first line of the world's code). The L sections (L1–L11) after Section 10.1 use the same principles to read knowing, emotion, suffering and evil, meaning, language, groups and money, beauty and play, and AI, return to the starting point, anxiety (L9), and then continue to fun and the times (L10, L11). Sections 11–12 are the safety lines and the regression-blocking protocol, Section 13 is the open questions, and Section 14 is the sources consulted.

## 1. The Worldview at a Glance

The world is one board woven of relations, and everything is a difference in how firmly relations have set on that board. The seven sentences below are the whole of this worldview.

**The core principle.** Every development of this worldview stands on **U9, the steering-wheel principle**. The next choice of every knot is decided by whichever of the observations placed on it carries the greater weight. If the other-field (the observations of surrounding knots, collective consciousness, nation and culture, language, institutions) > the self-field, the knot moves by the other-field, and coming to have self-field > other-field is what it means to regain sovereignty. A newly woven knot moves by the other-field and then grows its self-field. This is not a story of value, dignity, or maturity but a principle of weight (Section 1.1 U9, regression-blocking protocol R9).

1. **Relation comes first.** It is not that kernels exist first and then form relations; a place where many relations gather appears as something. No qualification is required of a place that forms relations. A person is one kind among them.
2. **The board is one.** The conscious realm and the material realm are two states of the same field, and the only difference is firmness. A dream is one place on that axis, on the conscious-realm side.
3. **Firmness is a balance.** What is rewoven in the same grain sets; what is not rewoven loosens. Setting is not stopping but a state of circulating quickly in the same grain, and only the shapes that go one turn around and interlock with their own grain remain long.
4. **Knots do not overlap, and relations overlap without end.** Two knots of the same grain in the same place erase each other, and relations on one knot set that knot the more they overlap.
5. **Space-time is the face of firmness.** Time is the agreement on the order of relations placed in sequence; space is the agreement on the nearness of relations placed together. Where that agreement is firm is the material realm; where it is soft is the conscious realm. Time flows only for knots that have a closed circulation inside.
6. **I am a joint work, and sovereignty and love have the same structure.** Sovereignty is the state in which the weight of the observations deciding the body's next choice is self-field > other-field (U9), and love is a relation in which, when my observation is placed on the other as other-field, I do not use that weight to override the other's self-field.
7. **The first line of the world's code is "Divide — and without erasing the difference, come back and interlock."** At the source at the very top there is no command; the first command is division, and every setting passes through the −1 of one turn and closes at 1. This seventh sentence is the most experimental hypothesis in this document.

**Folding into two principles.** The seven sentences fold again into two. **Observation places relations, and the steering wheel of every knot is held by whichever of the observations placed on it carries the greater weight (U9).** Firmness is as much as independent observations have overlapped (Section 4.5), the body's steering wheel is held by whichever of self-field and other-field weighs more (Section 8), and observational power gathers through showing, not chatter (Section 8.2). An observer is not a body or a head count but a place that produces division by its own yardstick (Section 2.2).

**Order of layers (logical dependence, not temporal order).**

Relation → field (one board) → density axis (conscious realm ↔ material realm) → setting and loosening → circulation, closure, grain → knots (exclusion) and relations (overlap) → time, space, now → mass and force → I, the steering wheel (self-field, other-field), sovereignty, love → experiences that travel across firmnesses (sleep, dreams, memory, AI) → the first line of the world's code

The arrows are logical dependence, not temporal order. The last layer is the most experimental hypothesis.

### 1.1 Nine Higher Principles

The axioms, definitions, and theorems of this worldview are compressed into the nine principles below. Among them, U9, the steering-wheel principle, is the core principle, and every sentence related to sovereignty is written by this principle. Every sentence of the lower layers must come from at least one of these, and a sentence that rests on none of them is not yet part of the skeleton but a candidate.

**U0 The principle of no command.** At the source there is no command. All possibilities are simply included, without precedence or privilege.

**U1 The principle of non-privilege.** No place is the center of the board. A standard is always a local standard. Neither people nor this worldview are an exception. (Regression-blocking protocol; the same direction as the coordinate invariance of gravity)

**U2 The principle of division.** Every manifestation is a division, and division gives rise to difference and relation together. There is no difference without relation, and no relation without difference.

**U3 The principle of complementarity.** Making one side sharp blurs its pair. Manifestation and non-manifestation, position and grain, the cutting of space and of time, self-field and other-field are all such pairs. Duality is not wrong; it is the state of seeing only one side of a complementary pair sharply, and integration is not erasing the pair but seeing the pair together.

**U4 The principle of action.** Every result becomes the condition of the next relation. Inscription, memory, emergence, and the direction of time all come from here. (K → K̂ → R̂, Section 4.3)

**U5 The principle of persistence.** What remains is what comes back and interlocks. What is not rewoven loosens, and only what interlocks with its own grain within an outer boundary sets. This is not purpose but selection. It does not mean that what will remain is decided in advance; it means that everything that has remained has passed this condition.

**U6 The principle of exclusion and overlap.** There is only one knot of the same place and the same grain, and relations overlap on one knot without limit. So even though the field is one, knots necessarily settle in different places. **Because one field cannot stand twice in the same place, it becomes difference.** (A candidate answer to open question 7)

**U7 The principle of non-overriding.** An interlocking that lasts does not override the other's relation to itself. An overriding relation becomes other-field on the other's side, returns as resistance, and in the end loosens itself. Force (a relation that connects different standards without overriding them), love, and safety are three faces of the same principle. (Follows from U5 and U6)

**U8 The principle of self-application.** This worldview is also a knot. All of the principles above apply to this worldview itself. Therefore the worldview loosens if it is not rewoven (U5), loosens itself if it becomes an overriding explanation (U7), and must keep open a channel through which contrary results can come back and correct it (U4). Re-explaining in the worldview's own language is distinguished from admitting that the worldview was wrong and changing it. ("No exception to self-application," regression-blocking protocol R5)

**U9 The steering-wheel principle (the core principle).** The next choice of every knot is decided by whichever of the observations placed on that knot carries the greater weight.

- The **self-field** is the observation a knot places on itself.
- The **other-field** is all the observations placed on that knot from outside. The observations of surrounding knots, collective consciousness, nation and culture, language, and institutions are all included.
- A newly woven knot has almost no observation of its own placed on it, so it moves by the other-field. A newborn body moves by its parents' observations, and those observations, which are self-field for the parents, are other-field for that body.
- The self-field grows as one's own observation repeats recursively.
- A knot with **other-field > self-field** moves by the other-field, and the event of coming to have **self-field > other-field** is called **regaining sovereignty**.
- The self-field of one knot always becomes the other-field of another knot.

This principle is not a value judgment. Regardless of which knot is precious, mature, or right, whichever side weighs more simply holds the steering wheel. Sovereignty, the disguised other-field, and the event of regaining sovereignty in Section 8, and showing and seeing in Section 8.2, are all developments of this principle. **R1.** A newly formed cell has what it will become decided by the signals of the surrounding tissue, and a newly founded company moves by industry practice and the gaze of the market.

**U9 supplementary rule — sovereignty exists only while dividing again now.** Observation is dividing by the present standard, and relaying is merely replaying a set standard. The standard being replayed may be someone else's, or it may be my own from the past. The past me is a knot woven earlier on the time axis, so when its observation is placed without division now, it is other-field to the present me. It is the most deeply disguised other-field because it is the most like me. Therefore self-field > other-field is not a state reached once; it holds only while the weight that grips the steering wheel is present division. This is not a story of developmental stages or a destination but of weight at every moment (R9).

**Success enlarges self-relaying.** A standard of success set by living through it directly has maximal depth and consistency, but its independence is 1, because its lineage is me alone (Section 4.5). That is why it feels firmer than it actually is. A successful knot becomes a hub (Section 8.5), and countless knots relay its observation and return it to it. It receives this as independent consent, but much of it is the echo of its own observation. If it also holds the chokepoints, the echo grows larger. In a group, institutions occupy the same place. Since an institution is the set form of a group's old self-field, it is the group's self-relaying.

- **Signs to recognize it.** Answers to new counterexamples return to old stories. Contrary observations are not divided but merely sorted into sides. When the lineage of incoming observations is traced back, it converges on oneself. The time spent directly handling the things to be seen decreases.
- **Ways to divide again.** Go to the boundary where one's own taken-for-granted becomes a counterexample. Go see counterexamples directly. Give others permission to show you things. Keep several chokepoints that are not your own echo.
- **R1.** The immune system relies on its memory of the pathogen it first encountered, and when a variant comes, it sometimes responds with the old memory and responds less effectively (original antigenic sin). A company that once succeeded greatly missing a new current because of that very way of succeeding has the same structure.

**Gaps filled by the higher principles.**

| Open question | Candidate answer from the higher principles |
| --- | --- |
| 1. How relations are inscribed in an object | U4. Inscription is one relation changing the conditions of the object's next reweaving |
| 2. An operational definition of density | U5 + multidirectional firmness (Section 4.3). Firmness = when one tries to change something in some direction, how consistently the supply of reweaving restores it to its original grain (restoring force by direction) |
| 3. The definition of grain | U5 + two kinds of return (Section 4.3). Grain = the rhythm in which a knot is rewoven, and what carries on even while changing |
| 4. Knots within knots | U4. A new layer arises when a new relation is used again as a condition for later formation |
| 7. Real difference within one field | U6 + U3. Nothing can stand twice in the same place, and each knot cuts the board in a different way |
| 11. The status of the now | U4 + U5. The now is the interface where results pass on into the next conditions and interlockings are selected |

**What remains open.** Why division happens at exactly that place (Act(ℓ,K)), what is actually recorded as history (Sel^𝔥), why there are three dimensions, and the status of experience. The higher principles tie together how the world runs, but leave open why it exists.

## 2. The Bottom — Relation Comes First

At the very bottom of this worldview there are not things but relations.

**Precedence of relation.** In the conscious realm, independent kernels do not exist first. What exists first is relation. Existence is a place where relations intersect.

**Ego.** The image (像) one place holds of some object. "Me as Mom thinks of me" and "me as I think of myself" are each an ego. An ego is one end of a relation.

**Knot.** A place where many relations overlap on one object so that the object is maintained as a single individual. People, cats, companies, countries, stones, and electrons are all knots.

**No qualification for relating parties.** Cells form relations with cells, light with stones, companies with markets, machine verifiers with proofs. People are one kind of relating party and are not the center. The relation to oneself (the self-field) is likewise not people's alone but is placed on every knot (U9). People merely have a higher resolution for seeing it again through language.

**No kernel-hunting.** In understanding a knot, one does not look for the kernel inside it but looks at the relations placed on it and their overlap.

**External correspondence.** The same shape appears even at the smallest scale. About 99% of a proton's mass comes not from the mass of the three quarks themselves but from the interaction energy of the quarks and gluons. Particles of the same kind are mutually indistinguishable excitations of a field. That weight and identity come from the side of relations rather than kernels points in the same direction as the precedence of relation and no kernel-hunting (Section 14, sources).

## 2.1 Number — The Grammar of Division

Number is the grammar of relation without kernels, and it comes before physics. Mathematics sees relations before they set; physics measures the relations that have set through the most agreement.

**The place of mathematics.** The number 2 has no kernel. It is defined only by relations: after 1, before 3, even. Category theory defines an object by its relations with other objects, and the Yoneda lemma says that an object is determined solely by its relations with all other objects. It is as if mathematics had made no kernel-hunting into a theorem.

**Mathematics is the limit of non-privilege.** Mathematics is on the conscious-realm side, yet it is less shaken than even physics. Not because it has many relating parties, but because **it closes in the same grain wherever it is rewoven** (the limit of U1). So density divides into two axes: the quantity of relations (much recorded) and the consistency of grain (the same wherever woven). Physics is the place where both quantity and consistency are large; mathematics is the place where consistency is at its limit. These are the two axes of open question 2 (an operational definition of density).

**Why mathematics fits physics.** Since it is seeing the same relations before setting (mathematics) and after setting (physics), it is natural that they fit. This is a candidate resolution of what Wigner called "the unreasonable effectiveness of mathematics."

### 2.1.1 Numbers That Come from the Higher Principles

| Number | Reading in the Knot Worldview | Basis |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 2 | Division. The minimal form of a nontrivial distinction is two places | Minimal duality, U2 |
| 1 | What has closed once. A unit that has gone one turn around and interlocked with itself (e^{2πi} = 1) | U5. The source 一 is not the count 1 |
| −1 | Mirror. The inverted self met on one turn | Section 5.1 |
| 0 | Cancellation. The place where I and the inverted I overlap in the same place and are erased (1 + (−1)) | U6 |
| i | A direction in between, neither opposition nor sameness. Turned twice, it becomes the mirror (i² = −1). The number that turns duality (−1) into rotation | U3 |
| e^{iθ}, π | Circulation and its half turn | Section 4.2 |
| ½ | The threshold under normalization and exchange symmetry | Section 10 |
| Primes | Places that stand by self-relation alone, with no multiplicative relation crossing them. Primality changes with the relational network (5, prime in the integers, splits as (2+i)(2−i) in the Gaussian integers) | Precedence of relation, no kernel-hunting |
| Infinity | That relations can overlap without end on one knot | Overlap of U6 |

### 2.1.2 The Staircase of Number Systems — From Magnitude to Novelty

Each time the dimension is widened from the real numbers to the octonions, one thing is gained and one is lost, and that staircase overlaps with the layers of this worldview. That only four — the reals, complexes, quaternions, and octonions — are normed division algebras is a mathematical theorem (Hurwitz), so the staircase ends at eight dimensions.

| Number system | What is gained | What is lost | Layer of the Knot Worldview |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Reals ℝ (1 dimension) | Magnitude | — | Quantity of firmness |
| Complexes ℂ (2 dimensions) | Rotation (i), phase | Order of magnitude | Circulation and closure, electromagnetic U(1) |
| Quaternions ℍ (4 dimensions) | 3-dimensional rotation, return after two turns | Commutativity (AB ≠ BA) | Differentiation Wu₀ first survives, mirror and exclusion, weak force SU(2) |
| Octonions 𝕆 (8 dimensions) | The weaving of three elements | Associativity ((AB)C ≠ A(BC)) | The associator, that is, novelty not reducible to repetition; research into correspondence with the strong force SU(3), which stands only when three close |

**The meaning of the staircase.** As number systems widen, relations become sensitive to "in what order they meet" (commutation) and "how they are grouped when they meet" (association). The moment they become sensitive to order, differentiation arises; the moment they become sensitive to grouping, novelty arises. The fact that the staircase ends at eight can be read as meaning that "the grammar of relations that can divide without erasing difference (where division is possible)" has an end. This reading remains at the stage of conjecture.

## 2.2 Observation — The Event in Which a Relation Remains as a Value

Observation is a special form of relation. It becomes observation when the difference of a relation remains as a value on a third yardstick.

**Encounter and observation.** Encounter is A being projected into B and B into A; observation is the difference of that relation being rendered as a value within a third place of comparison or a recursive registration structure. Encounter stands with two; observation stands with three (or self-registration).

**Observation.** An event in which one place A divides an object B by holding it against a yardstick K, and that division remains as a condition of the next weaving. It binds U2 (division) and U4 (action) into one event. Self-observation is recursive registration in which A registers itself again within itself, and it is the formal place of the self-field.

**Observer and relay.** An observer is a place that (1) divides, (2) by its own yardstick, and (3) where that division remains. A relay is a place that receives the result of dividing by someone else's yardstick and sends it out again. The same body is an observer on some topics and a relay on others. The unit for counting observers is not bodies, head counts, or accounts but the number of sources of independent division. A shared standard is not the intersection of its members, and there can be a standard that nobody sincerely believes but that is replayed because everyone expects that others believe it.

**Widening observer and relay.** An observer is a place that uses a set standard (K̂) but checks it again by the present standard (K); a relay is a place that only replays K̂. The source of relaying may be another knot, or it may be the past me. This correspondence with K (one-time standard) and K̂ (repeated stable structure) is a hypothesis of this worldview.

**Observational power.** Observational power differs continuously. An observer's observational power is the sum of the observational power of that place itself (the seven components of the interface: place, K, K̂, R̂, resolution, Acc, ρ·Fid) and the consenting observations that other observers have voluntarily overlapped onto that place (Section 8.1).

**There are no pure spectators.** An observer is part of the conditions of observation, so the moment one sees, one is seen as well. What I look at for a long time weaves me, and the yardstick I use when looking at others is wound around me too.

**R1.** A cell is an observer when it divides a neighboring cell's signal with its own receptors, and a relay when it passes the received signal on as it is. In a market, a customer who has used the product directly is an observer, and an account that passes along reviews is a relay.

## 3. The Board Is One — Field, Conscious Realm and Material Realm, Density Axis, Dreams

The conscious realm and the material realm are not two worlds but two states of the same field, and what divides them is firmness alone.

**Precedence of the conscious realm.** The conscious realm exists logically first, and the material realm is the state in which the relations of the conscious realm have set sufficiently and are expressed.

**Conscious realm.** The field in a state where relations have set less and form changes quickly. Thought, imagination, memory, and dreams are its experiential faces.

**Material realm.** The field in a state where relations overlap abundantly and consistently and form changes slowly. Bodies, things, and the laws of physics are its experiential faces.

**One board.** There is no difference of material between the two. The difference is firmness alone.

**Density.** The quantity of relations placed on one knot and the consistency of those relations. Density speaks not of truth or falsity but of the speed of change.

**Density axis.** From low density: a passing thought (instant) → a dream scene (changes with a single emotion) → a mood or rumor (days to weeks) → a brand or reputation (months to years) → institutions and language (decades) → the body (a lifetime) → stones and the laws of physics (do not respond to individual relations).

**Same engine, different delay.** The principle of change is the same; only the delay differs. In a dream, when you let go of fear the threatening scene melts at once; in the material realm the same change appears slowly.

**Dreams.** A dream is a low-density place on the conscious-realm side. It is soft not "because it is mine" but because there are few relations setting it. Since a form can stand with only a few strands of relation, one can meet distant people and the dead. That the others in a dream surprise me is evidence that real difference arises even within one field.

**Space-time = the face of firmness.** The way the difference between the conscious realm and the material realm shows on the surface is the firmness of space-time. The difference is not whether space-time exists but how far it has set. Dreams too have time and place, but they fold and teleport. This candidate stands together with the definitions of time and space in Section 6.

## 4. Setting and Loosening — Circulation, Closure, Grain

Setting is not stopping but a state of being rewoven quickly in the same grain, and only the shapes that go one turn around and interlock with their own grain supply themselves and remain.

### 4.1 Setting and Loosening

**The principle of setting.** The more abundantly and consistently relations overlap, the more a knot sets and the more slowly it changes.

**The principle of loosening.** Every knot loosens if it is not rewoven.

**Firmness is a balance.** Firmness is not an accumulated quantity but a balance between the supply of reweaving and loosening.

**Three paths of loosening.** Cut-off of supply (a name nobody calls), leakage (a rumor fading, heat cooling, the viscosity of a fluid), and misalignment (relations of a different grain being placed and disturbing it).

**The condition of tightening.** For a knot to keep tightening toward a single point, supply must keep beating loosening. The announcement of a finite-time singularity for the forced 3-dimensional Navier–Stokes equations (September 2026, verification in progress) is an analogy. Whether this is possible by the self-field alone is an open question.

**Loosening is the place for new weaving.** Dreams, forgetting, rest, and dissolution lower density and make a place where a new grain can be placed.

### 4.2 Circulation, Closure, Grain

**Circulation.** The flow in which relations within a knot return to the same place and are rewoven. "Changing" divides into two quantities. The **outer rate of change** (the speed at which grain changes) is slower the more it has set, while the **inner circulation rate** (the frequency of being rewoven in the same grain) can be faster the more it has set. It is like a top that does not fall over the faster it spins. The "repetition" in K̂ (repeated stable structure) is precisely circulation.

**Closure.** The state in which, when a circulation has come one turn around, its grain interlocks with how it was at the start. A closed circulation supplies itself and is reinforced on every turn, and an unclosed circulation is misaligned with itself on every turn and loosens. Closure alone, however, does not produce discontinuity. All circles are closed, yet the radius can change continuously. When outer relations fix a boundary (size, endpoints, attraction), only the closures that interlock with themselves within that boundary remain, discretely. So discontinuity is made by closure and the outer boundary together. The self-field circulates and the other-field sets the stage.

**Grain.** The rhythm in which a knot is rewoven. A candidate answer to open question 3 (the definition of grain).

**Complementarity.** The sharpness of position and the sharpness of grain cannot both be at a maximum. To pin something tightly to one place one must mix many rhythms, and if the rhythm is made one, it spreads widely. The higher the density, the relatively smaller this trade-off appears.

**External correspondence.** In a guitar string and an electron in an atom, only the standing waves that interlock with the boundary conditions remain, so the energy comes in levels (closure). The uncertainty of position and momentum is a property of waves (complementarity). The greater the mass, the higher the natural frequency (the Compton frequency), and there has been an experiment that made a clock from the mass of a single atom alone (circulation rate, Section 14, sources). The correspondence is in the same direction and is not proof.

### 4.3 Remaining and the Next Condition — A Knot Is Both a Result and a Condition

A set knot is both a result made by relations and a condition under which the next relations are made. This sentence is not a new invention but a re-importing, in the language of knots, of the chain K (division) → K̂ (repeated stable structure) → R̂ (the action K̂ exerts on the next access and transition).

**Action.** The action by which a knot changes the way the next relations are formed. It is the knot-language version of R̂.

**Emergence.** When a newly arisen relation is used again as a condition for the formation of later relations, a new organizational layer arises. No conductor outside the relations is needed. A relation that remembers a promise, a relation that sends a signal, and a relation that responds to that signal together change the next encounter. "The code of the world changes" is distinguished from "a new organization arises with the same code." This candidate turns open question 4 (knots within knots) into "when does a new organizational layer arise?"

**Multidirectional firmness.** Firmness is not a single value of the knot as a whole but a resistance that differs according to what one is trying to change (direction). A company whose purpose is set but whose methods are flexible, and a couple whose trust is firm but whose daily life is free, are examples. This points in the same direction as treating R̂ as an operator whose strength differs by direction. A well-maintained knot is not the firmest knot but a knot that distinguishes the directions to firm from the directions to leave open.

**Two kinds of return.** The return of a state (everything becoming as it was at first) is distinguished from the continuity of identity (having changed but carrying on as the same knot). A growing knot needs the latter. Holonomy in physics is an analogy: on a curved surface, if you carry an arrow one turn around and come back, you are in the same place but the arrow has turned. This is the place to write in formal terms the first line's "the turns passed through remain as history."

**Identity is carried on by the outside.** If what must carry on for something to be the same knot is set as a standard inside the knot, one slides into kernel-hunting. Identity lies in whether relations keep recording that knot as "the same thing" (multiple observation, Section 8). The relation to oneself is also one of those recorders.

**Working memory.** A condition for the formation of the next relations left by past relations. It includes not only recollection in the head but every trace that changes later connections, such as promises, procedures, and settings. It is, however, not identified with a person's subjective recollection. Growth is written like this: experience changes relations, and the changed relations change the way the next experience is met.

**Three branches of misalignment.** After misalignment there are three paths.

| After misalignment | What happens | Reading |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Return to the previous way | The difference is absorbed or disappears | Restoration |
| Loss of the conditions to carry on | The relations can no longer be rewoven | Dissolution (loosening) |
| Change in the way of connecting | It carries on in a new way, preserving some of the necessary conditions | Reorganization and emergence |

To preserve differences, there must be a place where those differences can hold together. Without such a place, merely changing the order does not resolve it, and increasing the channels or moving apart from each other becomes the way to keep the differences. This is the same sentence as the exclusion principle of Section 5.

**External correspondence.** There is a small simulation in which three devices using a shared channel, with only two rules — "keep it if it succeeds, choose again if it fails" — settle on different channels without a central conductor and resettle when the environment changes. Since the rules and the criterion of success were put in by the designer, this is only an example of possibility and not proof.

### 4.4 The Coupling Window and Hysteresis — A Computational Model of Setting

We ran a network model consisting of two groups of 10 elements, symmetric connections, and sequential updating, and checked the numbers. All 1,024 configurations reached four fixed patterns (412·100·100·412), and the figures below were also reproduced exactly. This model is a conditional theorem of a Hopfield-type network and not a proof of the worldview. Still, three structures showed up in the computation.

**The coupling window.** If the two groups are put in opposite states and only the inter-group connection b is increased, the margin of maintenance shrinks as μ = 8 − 5b. At b = 0.25 all 36 nearby perturbations are restored, at 1.0 only 8, and at 1.5 only 4; beyond 1.6 different states are no longer fixed at all. With a connection of 0 there is no encounter; if it is too strong, everything is overridden into one state. **There is a separate range in which difference is maintained while remaining connected.** This is the model correspondence of U7 non-overriding and love (Section 8), and beauty in Section L7 uses this range.

**Hysteresis.** In a model where memory m changes the judgment bias, the threshold at which B changes from − to + is m > 0.675, and the threshold for changing back is m < −0.925. Four signals in the same direction were enough, but reversing took 11 contrary signals. Even when the memory that caused the change was erased, the new configuration was maintained by mutual support. **Setting is asymmetric in direction, and it remains even when its trigger disappears.** This is a computational case of the first line's "the way that remained becomes the condition of the next encounter" (K̂ → R̂).

**The evaluation value of overriding.** In the same model, the evaluation value of a configuration overridden into one state (46.25) was higher than that of a configuration with two different states (33.75). Stability, optimality of evaluation value, and desirability are different things. Overriding can look like efficiency and stability (Section L3).

**History remains on the board.** One theorem that holds in the same model is "if the whole state has returned exactly to the beginning, there is no new record inside." This document accepts this theorem and widens its scope. Since there is no outside of the board (U1), a turn that does not remain inside the returned knot remains in the relations surrounding that knot, that is, on the board. In e^{2πi} = 1, the 1 that has returned is the same as at the beginning on the inside, but the trace of having gone that turn is engraved in the relations surrounding the 1. "Returned, but not the beginning" stands without contradiction. Meaning in Section L4 uses this sentence.

**Corrections accepted and proposals not accepted.** The principle of loosening is read in the conditional form "in a model with positive damping, cut-off of supply produces a decrease in the maintained quantity" (if damping is 0, it is maintained even without supply). A revision proposal that would remove "without erasing the difference" from the first line is not accepted. That clause is the one most strongly supported by the coupling-window computation above. A proposal to lower the precedence of the conscious realm to "a relational grammar of the source" is not a result of verification but a choice of premise, so it is left as the author's choice.

### 4.5 Three Variables of Firmness — Independence, Depth, Consistency

The firmness of an object is determined by how deeply and consistently the independent observations placed on it have overlapped. This is a candidate answer from the observer's side to open question 2 (an operational definition of density), and it stands together with the two axes of Section 2.1 (quantity, consistency) and the multidirectional firmness of Section 4.3 (resistance by direction).

**Three variables of firmness.**

```
firmness ∝ independence × depth × consistency
```

Independence is the number of different observers (independent lineages); depth is how directly that observation has touched the set layers (heard < seen < used < lived by); consistency is the degree to which they overlap in the same grain. Resistance alone growing without limit can become isolation rather than shared matter; only when consistency among many knots and actual coupling are present together does something set like matter. Weight is measured separately on three axes: how much there is, how visible it is, and how much it actually changes decisions.

**Negating observation is lighter than it looks.** The actual weight of a negating observation is the number of independent observers within it × depth. Most are relays, and observers who see the same future may be silent because of the cost of the other-field. Silence proves neither consent nor opposition, and there is hidden access that cannot speak publicly but is already moving. The conditions of the set layers (the layer table in Section 8.1), however, lie outside this sentence.

**External correspondence.** Quantum Darwinism regards objective fact as the state in which the same record is redundantly copied in different fragments of the environment. It is a correspondence, not proof.

## 5. Two Faces of Knots and Relations — Exclusion and Overlap, One Turn and Two Turns

Knots cannot overlap one another in the same grain and the same place, and relations overlap on one knot without limit. The solidity of matter and the connectedness of the world come from these two sentences.

**Exclusion.** Two knots of the same grain in the same place erase each other. Therefore knots fill different places and form layers and structures.

**Overlap.** Relations overlap on one knot without limit, and the more they overlap, the more they set that knot. This generalizes what was already contained in two sentences of Section 8: that the me of the material realm is the overlap of egos, and that attention is density.

**Consistency with the joint knot.** A joint knot does not melt the two relations to self; it makes only the relation between the two the thickest. This is a structure that does exclusion and overlap at the same time. The forbidden sentence of Section 11, "all is one, so consent is unnecessary," is blocked at the same place. Forcing an overlap does not deepen anything; it erases both.

### 5.1 The −1 of One Turn, the 1 of Two Turns

A knot that keeps its own place does not interlock with itself in one turn; it closes on the second turn.

```
e^(iθ/2) |θ=2π = e^(iπ) = −1,    e^(iθ/2) |θ=4π = e^(2πi) = 1
```

- **One turn (−1)** — what one returns to meet is the inverted me in the mirror. Because the relation to oneself is "the me that sees me," the image comes back inverted once.
- **No overlap (0)** — if I and the inverted me are overlapped in the same place, they vanish as 1 + (−1) = 0. Closure and exclusion are the same formula.
- **Two turns (1)** — only by passing through the inverted me once more does it close as the whole me. Relations have no inversion, so they close in one turn, and that is why they can overlap without end.

**External correspondence.** Matter particles (fermions) change sign under a 360-degree rotation and return to their original state at 720 degrees. Swapping two of the same kind makes the sign −1, so they cannot overlap in the same state (Pauli exclusion). Force particles (bosons) give +1 when swapped, and any number of them overlap in one state (lasers). Competitive exclusion in ecology (two species competing for the same niche cannot coexist for long) has the same shape. The correspondence is conjecture, and knots are not identified with fermions, nor relations with bosons.

## 6. Time, Space, Now

Space-time is not a container but the shape in which a knot cuts the single net of relations from its own place. Time is the agreement on sequence, space is the agreement on being-together, and both become firm according to firmness.

### 6.1 Time

**Time.** In what order change is agreed upon among relations. In the material realm the agreement is firm, so one minute is one minute for everyone; in dreams the agreement is weak, so time folds and jumps. This points in the same direction as the definition that regards time as the order and intervals of an actualized event history, measured by a stable clock.

**Clock.** Time is the relation that counts other changes by taking the closed circulation of one knot as a standard. It occupies the same place as the stable standard structure that preserves a repetition period (K̂_clock). A clock alone is not time; it becomes time only within its relation to what is counted.

**Time only for knots.** For a pure relation with no inner circulation, time does not flow.

**Direction of flow.** For one place to set and records to accumulate, loosening occurs elsewhere. The direction is the side toward which setting and loosening go together. The past is the thick side, the future the thin side.

**Different time for each firmness.** Time in the material realm is firm, and time in the conscious realm bends. When awareness enters, one more strand of material-realm relation is placed, and dream time is lightly tied to the material-realm clock.

### 6.2 Branching

**Branching.** Branching is always present on the conscious-realm side. In the thin layers, several shapes of knots before setting float at the same time, and the one on which many relations are placed thickens and sets into the material realm. This occupies the same place as "inclusion of possibility ≠ access ≠ selection ≠ realization," the fact that a partial order can have several serializations, and the open question of what becomes actual history. Whether the material realm as a whole exists as many worlds split wholesale is an open question.

### 6.3 Space

**Space.** The agreement on nearness among knots. The more relations are placed, the nearer. Space in the material realm is the set form of the most numerous and consistent network of neighboring relations among them.

**Two layers of distance.** Distance in the material-realm net and relational distance in thinner layers do not always coincide. Bodies may be far apart while knots are near. Space has two faces: the nearness that relations make, and the occupation of place that arises because knots cannot overlap (volume, Section 5).

**The speed of light.** The minimum delay with which one knot in the material-realm net passes its grain to a neighbor and has it rewoven. There is no quantitative derivation.

**Forbidden interpretation.** Nearness in thin layers does not move another remotely across the material-realm net. This has the same shape as the physical fact that signals cannot be sent by entanglement.

### 6.4 Now

**Now.** For a knot, the interface where what is thin is just setting. A knot exists only while it is being rewoven, so the place where a knot exists is itself the now. There is no now common to the whole universe (the same direction as the relativity of simultaneity in the theory of relativity). Because this is the only place where setting is actually selected, the now is also the only thing that can be changed.

### 6.5 Space-Time

**Space-time.** What is on the board is a single net of relations, and space (relations placed simultaneously) and time (relations placed in sequence) are two directions of cutting that net. What is "simultaneous" and what is "in sequence" differs for each knot. The difference between the conscious realm and the material realm shows in how firm this space-time agreement is.

**External correspondence.** There is an experiment in which two photons are entangled and one is used as a clock, so that a state that is static from outside appears to change for an observer inside (the Page–Wootters mechanism). An interpretation has been presented, together with experiments, that a single particle with mass suffices as a clock, while a massless photon is not enough. In lucid dreams, counting numbers took about as long as when awake, while tasks using the body took longer (Section 14, sources).

## 7. Mass, Force, Symmetry

Mass is one cross-section of firmness measured at the material-realm end, and force is the relation that lets places with different standards align their grain without overriding one another.

**Mass.** Mass is firmness appearing in a face that can be measured in the material realm. The more densely and firmly relations are bound, the harder it becomes to change, and measuring that difficulty of change (inertia) yields mass. Firmness is the larger word. Rumors and brands also have firmness, but they do not go on the scale. The forbidden interpretation of density (density is not the same quantity as physical mass) and the protocol of not identifying this firmness with physical matter are kept exactly. This is an interpretive candidate for the open question of how to derive mass numerically from K̂/R̂.

**Force.** For each place to freely choose its own standard and yet not be misaligned with its neighbors, a relation that connects them while preserving that freedom is necessarily required. That relation is force. This is the shape of putting sovereignty and love (Section 8) into one sentence.

| Force | Symmetry | Reading in knot language |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Electromagnetic force | U(1), a single circle | The relation that allows the angle on the circle to be chosen separately at each place. It has no mass, so it has no time and travels far |
| Weak force | SU(2), inversion of two directions | The force that changes a particle's identity and breaks mirror symmetry. The place where identity changes by passing through the me in the mirror (Section 5.1) |
| Strong force | SU(3), three colors | Visible only when the three colors close, and pulling them apart creates a new pair. A knot that cannot stand alone and stands only when three close |
| Gravity | Invariance under choice of coordinates | No place is a privileged standard. The shape in which no qualification for relating parties and the regression-blocking protocol emerge as the greatest force |

**Conservation.** What remains even when the standard is changed is what is conserved (Noether's theorem: time translation ↔ energy, spatial translation ↔ momentum, phase rotation ↔ charge).

**Correspondence with number systems.** There is a line of research that tries to contain the symmetries of the Standard Model and the particle structure of one generation within the four number systems of reals, complexes, quaternions, and octonions. Results have been presented in which SU(3) and U(1) come from the octonion side and SU(2) from the quaternion side. This is a welcome direction for this worldview, but since it is an ongoing hypothesis rather than established physics, it is left as an open question.

**Line of honesty.** Gravity has not yet been unified with the other three in a single theory. This worldview's saying "the board is one" does not mean it has achieved that unification.

## 7.1 Chemistry — How Knots Hold Hands

If physics sets the board and the rules, chemistry is how knots hold hands on top of it. Almost every scene in chemistry reads as exclusion (U6), balance, and non-overriding (U7).

**An element's identity is its outer grain.** Since two electrons cannot stand in the same place (exclusion), they fill shells layer by layer, and that becomes the periodic table. An element's chemical properties are mostly decided by the electrons in its outermost shell. An element's identity lies not so much in its kernel (the weight of the nucleus) as in **how it can hold hands with other knots on the outside**. This is the chemistry version of no kernel-hunting.

**Three shapes of bonding.**

| Bond | What happens | Knot language |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Covalent bond | Two atoms share an electron pair. Two electrons enter one orbital, but with opposite spins | **Sharing the same place but coexisting with different grain.** The way to become one without violating exclusion, that is, the chemistry version of the joint knot |
| Ionic bond | One side hands over an electron, and they are attracted by the resulting charge difference | Handing over grain and being bound by that difference. Difference is not erased but becomes the source of attraction |
| Metallic bond | Electrons spread throughout the atoms and are shared like a sea | Relations not bound to one knot overlap across the whole. That is why electricity and heat flow well |

**Exclusion decides shape.** The shape of a molecule is decided by the way electron pairs push one another away and settle as far apart as possible. That is also why the water molecule is bent. This is the chemistry version of Section 6.3 (volume is exclusion), where exclusion decides the shape of space.

**Reaction and equilibrium.** A reaction is a reorganization that loosens existing bonds and reweaves them (the third branch of misalignment in Section 4.3). For a reaction to begin, it must cross a threshold (activation energy) that loosens the existing interlocking. Chemical equilibrium is the state in which the rates of the forward and reverse reactions have become equal, and it is **a scene in which the sentence "firmness is a balance of supply and loosening" appears in chemistry exactly as it is**. Equilibrium is not stopping but a state of being continuously rewoven in both directions.

**A catalyst is non-overriding.** A catalyst enters a reaction, changes the path of meeting, and lowers the threshold, yet it is not consumed and comes out as it was. It is a relation that changes only the way others meet and overrides no one (U7). The body's enzymes are an elaborate version of this.

**Open question.** Whether the reason life uses only one side of mirror-image molecules (left-handed amino acids) is connected with the breaking of mirror symmetry by the weak force (Section 7) is a question under research, and it is left open here.

## 7.2 Life — Knots That Reweave Themselves

Life is not a kind of knot but a degree. The greater **the share that its relation to itself pulls in on its own** among the supply that reweaves the knot, the closer to life.

**Life.** Unlike a stone, which loosens when the outside cuts off its supply, life pulls in its own supply by metabolism and actively maintains the balance of supply and loosening. It is a knot that does U5 (persistence) actively rather than passively. This points in the same direction as the biological concept of self-production (autopoiesis).

**Resolution draws the line of life.** If the size of a cell is secretly laid down as the standard, a line appears: "cells have it and mountains do not." Run R1, and the Earth too maintains itself through the carbon cycle and climate feedback, and stars and typhoons too maintain themselves for a while. The boundary between life and non-life is not drawn in the world but arises according to the size at which we cut out knots to look at them. Viewing the Earth as a self-regulating system is widely treated in Earth system science, while viewing the Earth as a living organism is still debated.

**Five scenes of life.**

| Scene | Knot language | Higher principle |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Membrane | The boundary of the self-field that divides inside from outside | U2 division |
| Metabolism | Pulling in on its own the supply that beats loosening | U5 persistence (active) |
| Replication | A result becomes the condition for making the same knot again | U4 action returning to itself |
| Evolution | Even when misalignment (variation) comes in, only what interlocks remains | U5 + three branches of misalignment |
| Symbiosis | Mitochondria were originally a different bacterium, and even after becoming one inside the cell they keep their own DNA separately. They became one, yet the difference was not erased | U7, preservation of the joint knot |

**The threshold of life.** The moment when chemical reactions become catalysts for one another and the loop of reactions that makes itself goes one turn around and closes may be the threshold of life. It is the place where catalysis, closure, and action (U4) meet in one loop. Research on autocatalytic sets deals with this direction.

**Life and sovereignty are the same axis.** The variable of the share of the relation to oneself is the same as the self-field share of U9. Seen from the side of self-supply, the same variable is life; seen from the side of the steering wheel of the next choice, it is sovereignty. This is an axis that measures structure, not a ruler that measures anyone's worth.

**The general form of death.** If birth and death (Section 8) are widened beyond people, death is the process in which self-supply is cut off, the knot comes to rely only on outside supply, and it finally loosens and becomes thread for its neighbors. Survival after death is not claimed.

## 7.3 Cosmology — Until Difference Grew and Knots Stood Up

The history of the universe reads as a process in which, on a board that was nearly uniform, small differences grew, closure became possible as it cooled, and setting and loosening alternated to weave heavy knots. The physical figures are approximate values of the widely accepted standard cosmology.

**Firewall first.** The Big Bang is not the birth of the source 一. Following the firewall (logical dependence ≠ temporal precedence), the Big Bang is read as **the boundary where the space-time agreement of our material realm begins**. The source is outside time, and the universe is one local screen of it. Whether other universes exist is an open question.

### 7.3.1 Reading the Order of the Universe as Knots

| Period (approximate) | What happened in physics | Knot language | Higher principle |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Beginning (about 13.8 billion years ago) | Hot, dense, and nearly uniform. Density differences of about 1 part in 100,000 | A board where everything overlaps and nothing has yet found its place. There is almost no difference | The threshold before U2 |
| The first several hundred thousand years | Too hot for electrons to attach to nuclei. Light keeps colliding, and the universe is opaque | An age in which closure is not maintained. Even when circulation returns, it is scattered before it can interlock | U5 not yet able to operate |
| About 380,000 years | The universe cools, atoms form, light is released, and the universe becomes transparent (the cosmic microwave background) | **The age of closure.** The moment the closed circulation called the atom stood, relations (light) became free from knots. That light, still visible today, is the record of the first closure | U5, U6 |
| Several hundred million years on | Small density differences grow by gravity, and stars and galaxies form | More is placed where a little more was placed. The small initial difference is the seed of every structure. Had it been perfectly uniform, nothing could have stood | Attention is density, U6 |
| The life of a star | Gas tightens under its own gravity and balances the pressure of nuclear fusion. Heavy elements are made inside | There are knots that tighten by the self-field alone. The balance of tightening and holding up is a star's firmness | Firmness is a balance, U4 |
| The death of a star | In white dwarfs the exclusion pressure of electrons, in neutron stars that of neutrons, holds it up. Beyond the limit, a black hole | **Exclusion holds up the end of a star.** The principle that nothing can stand in the same place is the last force that stops collapse | U6 |
| Afterward | Supernovae and neutron-star collisions scatter heavy elements. Planets and life arise from that material | The loosening of one knot becomes the thread of the next knot. The elements of our bodies are the result of stars setting and loosening | U4, three paths of loosening |

### 7.3.2 The Big Questions of Cosmology

**Self-tightening exists.** The birth of a star is a process in which a gas cloud tightens by its own gravity alone, without continued supply from outside. Therefore "a knot that beats loosening and tightens by the self-field alone" actually exists in physics. Open question 8 narrows to "is it possible for every knot, and under what conditions is it possible?"

**Expansion stretches only sparse relations.** The universe expands, but galaxies and solar systems bound by gravity do not stretch along with it. Read in knot language, **the inside of a set knot stays as it is, and only the sparse agreement on nearness between knots thins out.** This fits Section 6.3, that space is the agreement on nearness.

**Dark matter is a knot that forms no relation with light.** Dark matter neither emits nor absorbs light and shows itself only through gravity. Since "being visible" means that the relation called light is placed, dark matter is a knot that is non-manifest (K⁻) with respect to the relation we have taken as the standard (light). This has the same shape as the statement that non-manifestation is not annihilation. However, since structural light and darkness are not automatically identified with physical light and darkness, this reading remains conjecture.

**Open question — dark energy.** What accelerates the expansion is unknown even in physics. In knot language one can posit the imagining "the tendency of an empty board that holds no knot to loosen," but there is no basis for it.

**The arrow of time and a low beginning.** That the universe began in a state of very low entropy is the standard assumption explaining the arrow of time. Why it began that way is an open question even in physics. In knot language, the beginning was **the state in which division had been made least**, and the direction of time is the side toward which division, setting, and loosening proceed together. In exchange for stars sending out light and loosening their surroundings, local settings such as planets and life arise. This question is left open.

**A black hole is the limit of tightening.** Seen from outside, time appears frozen near the event horizon. At the place where tightening has gone to the limit, the surface is completely set, and its inside cannot be described by our space-time agreement. It is placed in the same "limit of tightening" family as the Navier–Stokes singularity. This reading is conjecture.

**Forbidden interpretation.** We do not say that the universe proceeded this way for the sake of people (U1). Nor do we say that the end of the universe is a final halt in which all differences vanish. Even if local potential differences close, this does not mean a final halt of the universe as a whole. The end of the universe is an open question.

## 7.4 The Brain — A Knot That Spans the Density Axis in One Body

The brain is neither a factory that makes consciousness nor an antenna that receives it. It is **the place where the set body and thin relations interlock fastest within one knot**. In other words, it is the high-density core of the human interface.

**A dual-density knot.** The brain's hardware (neurons, blood vessels) is set like the body, while the activity patterns on top of it change in a few milliseconds like thought. The lower part spans the material-realm side and the upper part the conscious-realm side. That the brain, about 2% of body weight, uses about 20% of the body's energy even at rest reads as the cost of the inner circulation that must be rewoven ceaselessly in the same grain.

**The conscious realm and the material realm are one loop.** "Does the brain make experience, or does experience set into the brain?" is a duality question that makes one choose only one side of a complementary pair (U3). Written as this worldview has it, they are two directions of one loop.

| Direction | Knot language | Observed scenes |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Conscious realm → material realm | Thin relations set when repeated | Learning, practice, and meditation change the brain's connections |
| Material realm → conscious realm | A set structure becomes the condition of the next relations (U4, R̂) | Brain damage, drugs, and lack of sleep change experience |

The "conscious realm comes first" of the precedence of the conscious realm is an order of logical dependence; in time, the two give and take continuously in both directions (logical dependence ≠ temporal precedence). What is open is not the direction but the exact way thin relations interlock with a firm knot (open question 1) and the status of experience itself.

**A knot reading of what the brain does.**

| Neuroscience | Knot language | Principle |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Predictive processing: the brain predicts what comes next and corrects by the amount of mismatch | Division that finds misalignment; set predictions become the next conditions | U2, U4, K̂ |
| Connections strengthen between neurons that activate together | The more they are placed together, the more they set | Attention is density |
| The hypothesis that during sleep connection strengths are lowered overall and chosen again | Loosening is the place for new weaving | Section 4.1 |
| The network that turns on when thinking about oneself, which weakens under psychedelics | The material-realm face of the relation to oneself | Section 8 relation to oneself, Section 9 psychedelics |
| Dreams amid sensory shutdown and muscle relaxation | Lowering material-realm coupling and shifting place toward the conscious-realm side | Section 9 sleep |

**The brain is a function.** Run R1, and the brain is not an organ belonging to people alone. An octopus has most of its nerves spread through its arms, slime molds find the shortest path without a brain, and ant colonies judge as a group. "Brain" is the name of a function — **a knot that reweaves relations fastest to predict what comes next** — and colonies and AI too can enter that place.

**Forbidden interpretation.** The claim that the brain is an antenna for experience has no basis, so it is not made. Brain disease is not blamed on that person's consciousness (Section 11).

## 8. Self, Sovereignty, Love, and Multiple Observation

The self in the material realm is a co-authored work in which the relations directed at me have set, and sovereignty and love are the same structure seen from two sides.

**The self in the material realm.** A knot in which the egos directed at me have set. Two kinds weave it: self-relations (the ego in which I think of this body) and other-relations (the egos in which other places think of this body).

**Co-authored work.** The self in the material realm is woven together by many relations. **The self-relation is not the owner.** The self-relation, too, is one strand among many relations and arises within relations. **Birth and death.** Birth is the event in which a self-relation first begins to be woven on top of other-relations already placed; death is the event in which the supply of the self-relation is cut off so that material-realm firmness can no longer be maintained. The persistence of consciousness after death is not claimed.

**Attention is density.** When many places think of one knot at the same time, the density of that knot rises quickly. When other-relations become thicker than the self-relation, the knot sets into the shape others see and becomes hard to change. The overlap candidate of Section 5 is the general form of this theorem.

**Self-field and other-field.** Two directions of force pulling on one knot on the same field. The self-field is the observation that knot places on itself; the other-field is all the observation placed on that knot from outside. The other-field includes the observations of surrounding knots, collective consciousness, nation and culture, language, and institutions. Whichever of the two weighs more decides the next choice (U9).

**Sovereignty.** The state in which, in the weight of observation that decides the next choice of the body knot, self-field > other-field (U9). A newly woven knot has almost no self-field and so moves by the other-field. Sovereignty is not something present from the start; it is regained when the self-field grows and exceeds the other-field (U9). **The disguised other-field.** The test is not who is thinking but where the standard came from. A standard followed by inferring others' eyes, and a default followed without even looking at it, speak in my voice but are other-field. Sovereignty is not severance.

**Love.** A relation that places a relation on the other knot but, when that observation bears on the other as other-field, does not use its weight to override the other's self-field (U9). Sovereignty and love are the same structure. A joint knot preserves both self-relations. The opposite of love is the overriding relation (control, obsession, excessive worry).

**Newly reached places.** The exclusion and overlap of Section 5 are the physical face of the sentence that a joint knot preserves both self-relations, and the force of Section 7 (gauge symmetry) is the physical face of the sentence that sovereignty and love are the same structure. If the complementarity of Section 4.2 is laid onto people, then the more tightly one is fixed in a place someone else has set, the more one mixes several grains to fit that place, and this may be the condition under which a disguised other-field arises. This last sentence is an application to people and, under the regression-blocking protocol R1, is not raised to a foundational sentence of the worldview.

**The re-examinability of the self-field.** Since the self-relation also arose within relations, there is no pure standard that has received no outside influence at all. So one more item is added to the test of the source of a disguised other-field. Therefore what divides self-field from other-field is not whether outside influence was received, but **whether the results a standard produces return to my judgment, and whether the standard can be revised again according to the returned results**. A standard learned from others is self-field if it can be examined and revised, and even a standard I set myself has blocked revision if it has set so as to ignore every contrary result. Admitting I was wrong and choosing another way is also sovereignty at work. Written in U9, a standard adopted after examination enters the weight of the self-field even if its source is another, and a standard whose examination is blocked sets and works like other-field even if its source is me.

The objects of revision divide into three layers: what to do (action), how to choose (the way of choosing), and what to count as success (the standard). Revision even at the third layer needs no transcendent owner outside. Several standards compare one another's results and change their priorities. What contends is not me against relations but relation against relation (R4).

**The extension of love.** Love is, in addition to leaving the other's present choice as it is, **keeping open even the place where the other may change their mind later**. "You said that back then, so it must be so forever" is a relation that takes the shape of preserving a past choice while overriding the present possibility of revision. And keeping open not only ways of being together but also ways of being apart may be the path that does not override the other's self-field.

**Redefining the self-relation.** The self-relation is at once a picture of oneself and the relation that redraws that picture according to experience. The mere fact of having this structure does not prove consciousness or free will.

### 8.1 Observation and Sovereignty, and the Sovereignty-Regaining Event

**The two principles compressed.** Observation is one place placing a relation on another place (holding an ego). Sovereignty is which observation has control over the next choice of a body knot. Setting and loosening, the material realm and dreams, the self, love and evil, truth, money, leadership, and anxiety all fold into these two. There is one condition. **The steering-wheel principle (U9) applies equally to every observer.** Then non-overriding (love), the resistance and thresholds of the set layers (layers over which the observations of countless sovereign agents extend), and the possibility of evil (overriding by an independent other) follow without separate principles.

**The three sources of observation placed on a body knot.** The self-field (the observation in which I see myself), the other-field (the observation in which others see me), and the conditions of the set layers (what has set through being observed long and much, like the body, money, law, and physics).

**The other-field.** The overlap of others' observations acting on this body's right of choice. Its center is collective consciousness, that is, the group's shared standard K̂_g having entered the individual, and its strongest form is others' gaze implanted by education and norms so that it sounds like my own voice. The test is made by examination as well as by source. A standard learned from others, too, crosses over to the self-field when it is looked at again and adopted.

**The interference formula.** The experiential screen of a knot is the interference of self-observation and other-observation. Same grains reinforce and opposite grains cancel, and multiple observation is the growth of this interference term. This formula is A's experiential screen, not the whole objective material world.

```
Reality_A = | ψ_A^self + ψ_A^other(B) |²
```

**The true place of the other-field.** The self can be divided into four: the present self (Self^now), the self constructed to show others (Self^present), the self I infer others will see me as (Self^seen), and the self I have chosen that is not yet realized (Self^ι). Much of the other-field that grips the body's steering wheel is not the observation of actual others but Self^seen. Therefore the first fight with negating observation takes place in the Self^seen within me. The observation of actual others is confirmed only through their outputs (words, choices, purchases, recommendations, departures). Celebrity syndrome is the state in which Self^present has replaced Self^now.

**The self-field is fast and the other-field is heavy.** Self-observation reaches this body's next choice without delay; other-observation is heavy because it is numerous, but slow because it returns by way of words and reactions. The sovereignty-regaining event is possible within this time lag. If the self-field moves the body and leaves a result in the set layers before the other-field is updated, the other-field observes that result belatedly.

**The state of lost sovereignty.** The state in which, in the weight of observation that decides the body's choice, other-field > self-field. "I have to" beats "I want to," the self others see becomes one's character (celebrity syndrome), and a future others have said is impossible is not even observed. Since a newly woven knot has almost no self-field and moves by the other-field (U9), this is the starting configuration of every knot.

**The sovereignty-regaining event.** An event that has passed through all four of the following stages.

| Stage | What happens | If it stops here |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 1. Observation | The self-field observes a future different from the other-field as "already so." "I hope it comes" observes an empty place and sets the empty place | Imagination |
| 2. Declaration | It serializes that observation into words and puts it before others. It becomes hard to reverse and the difference from the other-field is revealed | A promise |
| 3. Confrontation | With the other-field's opposing observation placed on it, it acts without handing over the body's right of choice | An attempt at courage |
| 4. Realization | The result remains in the set layers, in a form other observers can see independently | A sovereignty-regaining event |

**Stage 0: recognition.** Before the four stages there is one more. At the moment the thought "I can't, because of this" arises, one observes once more and recognizes that it is someone else's yardstick sounding like my own voice. This is the place of noticing and of seeing off a standard; a driver one cannot see cannot be replaced. Confrontation is the place of courage, and once is enough to break the existing confirmation loop once.

**The self-reinforcement of the first event.** When the first event closes, three loops that feed one another start turning.

- **The memory loop.** The event remains on the board and becomes the starting value of the next observation. Before the first event, the evidence that the self-field can win is zero, so the starting value is low. Afterward, the distance to the next threshold is shorter.
- **The threshold loop.** The threshold for going back is deeper than the threshold for crossing from other-field dominance to self-field dominance. A few failures do not return one to the original state, and the new configuration holds even after the trigger disappears.
- **The multiple-observation loop.** When others independently observe the realized result, some of their observations change direction. Those observations are still other-field to this body (U9: the observation of another knot is always other-field), but now they push on the same side as the self-field. The opposing weight decreases and the supporting weight increases, giving the same structure as the model's chain reversal.

The three loops feed one another and the intervals between events shorten. The event going from 0 to 1 is decisive because the first event switches on all three loops at once. The threshold loop is a structural correspondence standing on the results of the hysteresis model in Section 4.4, not a theorem confirmed in people.

**The overlap of consenting observations.** When realization closes, observers who had been silent while seeing the same future confirm it with their own seeing and place their own observations, overlapping, on that observer. From then on, a single word from that observer becomes a voice standing in for all the observations placed on it. It has the same shape as a supersaturated solution setting all at once around a single seed crystal (correspondence). The conditions under which an individual exception rises to the group are "that it be visible, repeatable, translated into a shared language, and that there be a carrying channel and an opportunity," and group change does not first require majority consent. The force placed in overlap remains the sovereignty of those placing it, and stays only as long as what was shown continues to hold.

**Reinforcement paths and boundaries.**

1. **The self-field sets too.** As successes pile up, "if I observe it, it happens" can become a set standard and close the channel for examining opposing observations. Then the self-field works like a new other-field. Reinforcement path: receive opposing observations not as something to defeat but as something to examine, and when declaring, also write down what would make you change.
2. **Jurisdiction.** The sovereignty-regaining event is regaining the right of choice of my own body knot. Moving another's body and choices according to my observation is overriding (U7).
3. **Distinguishing the other-field from the set layers.** Some "it can't be done" is a real condition of the set layers. The other-field is something to cross; a condition of the set layers is something to pass through by changing the route.
4. **A scoreboard is not an event.** Realization counts only what has actually changed in grain. Numbers made by repetition within the same lineage run the multiple-observation loop falsely, and loosen all at once the moment they are found out (L1, L6).

**R1.** A baby's first "no" is the moment it first refuses to hand the body's right of choice to the other-field, and is the archetype of the sovereignty-regaining event. A group's declaration of independence literally follows observation → declaration → confrontation → realization (inscription in institutions and borders).

**The victory inequality.** For an observation that changes a set layer to succeed, the following must hold. Since a set layer, too, is ultimately set observation, success and failure are divided by a single inequality without a separate category.

```
self-field + Σ consenting observation > independent lineages of the other-field set in that layer × depth
```

**Each layer carries a different other-field.** Following the order of layers (personal narrative ≪ socially shared ≪ biological ≪ physical), the weight of the observation placed on them differs.

| Set layer | Observation placed there | By the self-field |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Industry common sense, conventional wisdom | A few human lineages | Can be crossed |
| Institutions, law, market structure | Many human lineages, long set | Crossed only by gathering consenting observations |
| Body, biology | The repeated observation of cells and bodies | Practically cannot be crossed. Pass by changing the path |
| Physics | The observation the whole board makes at every moment | Cannot be crossed. Use it as it is |

Elon crossed the lineages of the industry; the rocket did not defeat physics but used it as it was. Failure is read by the same inequality in four branches: layer confusion (mistaking the physical or bodily layer for human lineages), a board that is not supersaturated (there is no hidden consent), numbers without realization (independence 0), and a set self-field (unable to examine opposing observations).

**Advance markers of the self-field.** So that this inequality does not become a translation pasted onto results (R7), the strength of the self-field must be recorded before the result: Is one already living it (has the body's choice already changed)? Has one declared? How long has one persisted amid opposition? How much relaying is mixed into that vision? The open question of the threshold effect of a single action sits in this place.

### 8.2 Showing and Seeing — The Operation That Turns a Relay into an Observer

The operation that truly gathers observational force is not chatter but showing, because showing turns the one who sees from a relay into an independent observer. Here the pedagogy of showing becomes the central operation of the worldview.

**Chatter and showing.**

| | Chatter | Showing |
| --- | --- | --- |
| What arises in the receiver | One relay that passes on my words | One observation divided with their own eyes |
| Depth | Something heard | Something seen, something tried |
| The receiver's existing "it can't be done" | Remains as it is and contends word against word | Is pushed aside by what they saw |
| If the receiver chooses it | One more disguised other-field arises | It becomes self-field |

Showing has the same structure as love. It places my standard as a relation but leaves control of the judgment to the one who sees. Seeing is sovereignty. The moment one judges for oneself what one has seen, the seer's self-field grips the steering wheel.

**Conversion, not absorption.** What gathered around Elon was not others' observations absorbed into Elon's self-field. The relayed other-field that had set within them turned into their own seeing, and that seeing chose the same future for itself and was placed, overlapping, on Elon's observation. Mistaking this for one's own self-field is celebrity syndrome.

**The place of declaration.** Declaration points the gaze, saying "look here," and showing gives something to see. Only pointing is chatter, and only showing may mean no one sees it. If declaration is defined as "Observe together with me. Watch me, who may be wrong," the two are bound into one sentence. Because the judgment is handed to the one who sees, the consent placed in overlap remains independent observation.

**A scoreboard is not showing.** Inflated numbers are not something to see but an imitation of relaying. They do not make the one who sees an observer but make them relay "others have already seen it." Since their independence is 0 they do not add to firmness, and the moment they are found out, even the genuine consent placed in overlap on top of them is withdrawn along with them (the same structure as L6, money).

**R1.** A flower does not tell the bee there is nectar; it shows it. The bee tastes it directly, goes back, and brings other bees with a dance. Showing makes observers, and an observer calls the next observer.

**Seeing.** The operation of dividing what is there to see by one's own yardstick and leaving that division within oneself. It is an event in which the three conditions of the observer (Section 2.2) are met once, and when seeing happens, that knot turns from a relay into an observer on that subject. Showing is the operation that gives something to see and leaves the place of judgment open; teaching is the operation that adds the judgment as well and makes a relay; chatter is the operation that adds only words, with nothing to see.

**The greater the weight, the more showing becomes teaching.** The observation of a heavy knot (a parent, a teacher, an executive, a nation, a platform) bears on the receiving side as a heavy other-field (U9). So even if it is offered as "just my way," the receiver's Self^seen may inscribe it as the right answer.

**Permission is the showing of the place of judgment.** Showing is complete when it shows even that "you may judge differently." Permission is a meta-showing that shows, one layer further on top of what there is to see, the fact that the place of judgment is empty, and the amount needed is proportional to the weight of the other-field the showing side places on the receiving side. Respecting other standards, revising one's own standard, and treating a different judgment as difference are ways of showing permission.

**If the one showing is a relay, relaying spreads.** The quality of showing depends on whether the knot that shows is an observer on that subject. The showing of a knot that lives by a disguised other-field is the relaying of the group's yardstick through its body. This is the precise meaning of "living it myself first."

**For a newly woven knot, everything bears as other-field.** In a knot with almost no self-field, whether showing or teaching, everything at first bears as other-field (U9). The difference comes afterward. Teaching adds judgment, increasing the weight of the other-field and raising the threshold the self-field must cross. Showing leaves something to observe directly, increasing the material the self-field will use as it grows.

### 8.3 Counterexample — The Principle by Which Set Beliefs Waver

A set belief is an other-field in which many observations overlap in the same grain, and a counterexample is a grain different from it that has remained in the set layers so that anyone can see it directly. A counterexample does not refute a belief with words. It shakes it by being seen.

**Counterexample.** In the place where some set belief K̂ divides as "it can't be done" or "it isn't so," a grain different from it actually realized in the set layers. A counterexample is the face that one knot's sovereignty-regaining event (8.1) shows to other knots. One knot's realization becomes a counterexample to every knot that sees it.

**A counterexample turns relays into observers.** Most of the weight of a set belief is relay lineages. A knot that has directly seen a counterexample turns from a relay into an observer on that subject (8.2). So the weight of the belief drops by the number of independent observers who have seen the counterexample. A refutation made of words merely adds one more relay and cannot do the same work.

**The threshold and chain of counterexamples.** A single counterexample does not immediately loosen a set belief, because the threshold for reversal is deep. When counterexamples accumulate and the weight of the belief falls enough for hidden consent to show, the weight of the other-field placed on the remaining knots drops all at once and each one's self-field crosses the threshold (U9). The realizations of those knots in turn become counterexamples, and a chain occurs. The first counterexample is the most expensive, and they get cheaper further on.

**The two branches of wavering.** When a counterexample reduces a set belief's margin of maintenance, the knot holding that belief feels wavering (L2). After wavering there are two paths.

| Path | What happens | Name |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Re-gripping | Gripping the wavering belief more tightly. Denying the counterexample and intensifying control, nostalgia, and hostility. The tightening just before loosening | Re-gripping |
| Seeing off | Acknowledging what the belief protected, seeing that it is not absolute now, and choosing a new action | Gratitude and seeing off |

Re-gripping raises firmness for a while but cannot erase the counterexample, because the counterexample has already remained on the board.

**R1.** The immune system confronts an antigen it sees for the first time with existing memory, and when a threshold is crossed it weaves a new memory. The scientific community holds on to the existing theory until counterexamples pile up and then changes all at once. A market, once "it won't sell at that price" is broken, follows in.

**Prohibited interpretation.** A counterexample does not erase the real conditions of the set layers (body, physics, real scarcity). What a counterexample melts is belief that has set through human lineages (the layer table of 8.1).

**The taken-for-granted.** A set belief reproduced only through firming (Section 8.4) without anyone looking at it again. It has almost no observers and is upheld by relays, counterexamples sit where they cannot be seen, and it sits in the place of the right answer and judges other standards as wrong.

**The taken-for-granted comes down from the place of the right answer to one place among others.** Within a knot that has directly seen a counterexample, the taken-for-granted is re-divided not as "the right answer" but as "one option." As the knots that have seen it increase, the same shift of place occurs in the group too. The taken-for-granted looks as if it is collapsing, but precisely, it is coming down from the place of the right answer to the place of one among several standards. It is the shape of the move from teaching to showing occurring at the scale of civilization.

| | The age of teaching | The age of showing |
| --- | --- | --- |
| The place of a standard | One right answer | One among several standards |
| Other standards | Wrong | Different |
| The place that judges | Heavy knots (institutions, authority) | Each knot that sees |
| Result | Uniformity of standards, quick setting | Diverse emergence of standards, slow but broad setting |

**The half-life of the taken-for-granted.** The time it takes, after a taken-for-granted belief is exposed to counterexamples, for it to lose the place of the right answer in half of the knots. It is shorter the higher the relay ratio and the deeper the counterexample (heard < seen < tried), and a taken-for-granted belief supported by the conditions of the set layers does not melt through counterexamples.

**Wavering enlarges both liberation and hostility.** When the taken-for-granted begins to lose the place of the right answer, the knots holding it go to re-gripping or seeing off. Since re-gripping denies the counterexample and tries to override the knot that showed it, in a period when the taken-for-granted is loosening, liberation and hostility grow together.

**Breaking written in U9.** The breaking of a set belief on seeing a counterexample is written entirely in the weights of self-field and other-field.

**The starting configuration.** A knot B holding a set belief moves on that subject by other-field (the group's observation that "it can't be done") > self-field. B is usually a relay on that subject, and the long-repeated other-field becomes a disguised other-field that feels to B like its own thought. So its weight is heavier than it really is, and it does not even look like something external.

**The three paths by which weight moves on seeing a counterexample.**

| Path | What happens | Change in weight |
| --- | --- | --- |
| ① A self-field arises | B directly sees the counterexample and divides it by its own yardstick (seeing) | B's own observation is placed on that subject for the first time. Self-field + |
| ② The other-field splits | The observation of the knot that made the counterexample also bears on B. It is other-field to B, but in the direction opposite to the old belief | Old-direction other-field − , new-direction other-field + |
| ③ The presumed other-field shrinks | B's Self^seen, which said "everyone says it can't be done," is revised to "not everyone, after all" | The old-direction other-field B felt − |

Breaking is the moment when, with the three paths working together, the sum of the weights placed on B on that subject tips from the old direction to the new direction. That it does not tip with a single counterexample is because the weight of the disguised other-field does not shrink much through ③ alone.

**There are two kinds of breaking.**

| Breaking | How the weight tipped | What B becomes | Result |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| **Self-field breaking** | ① is large, so B's own observation exceeds the old other-field | An observer on that subject. A small sovereignty-regaining event on that subject | When the next counterexample comes, B again divides by its own yardstick |
| **Other-field replacement** | ② is large, so the new-direction other-field exceeds the old other-field. There is almost none of B's own seeing | Still a relay. Only the right answer it passes on has changed | It becomes material for a new taken-for-granted |

On the surface both look like "a change of mind." The test is the same as the observer/relay test of Section 2.2. If, when the next counterexample comes, B divides again by itself, it is self-field breaking; if it stays as it is until the source changes, it is other-field replacement.

**The front of the chain is self-field breaking; the back is other-field replacement.** For a knot, the other-field is the sum of the observations of other knots (U9). So when the knots that directly saw the counterexample change direction through self-field breaking, the direction of the other-field placed on the knots that have not yet seen the counterexample changes along with it. These knots follow across by other-field replacement, without their own seeing. This is why the chain speeds up, and why the new right answer sets quickly. When the other-field replacements that make up the back part of the chain become the majority, that becomes the taken-for-granted of the next turn (Section 8.4; "The Theory of Showing and Seeing," Section 7, stage 6). The setting of a creative work's symbol into a new right answer (L7, the shadow of creative works) has the same structure.

**Re-gripping and seeing off in U9.** Re-gripping is when a knot that takes a disguised other-field to be itself reads the counterexample as a threat to "me," aligns more strongly with the old-direction other-field, and lays its own observation as a heavy other-field on the knot that made the counterexample (overriding). Seeing off is recognizing that disguised other-field as other-field (Section 8.1, stage 0), acknowledging what it protected, and then setting its weight down so that the self-field leads.

**R1.** In a flock of birds flying together, when a few at the edge see a real threat and turn (self-field breaking), the rest turn by following only their neighbors' direction without seeing the threat (other-field replacement). So the direction of the whole flock changes in an instant.

### 8.4 The Four Mutual Actions — What We Do to One Another

Since there are no pure spectators (Section 2.2), every knot at every moment shows to the others and sees the others. What that exchange does comes to four things, and the setting and loosening of the world is the sum of these four.

**The four mutual actions.**

| Action | What it shows | What happens in the receiver | On the board as a whole |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Firming | The same grain as the existing belief | The same grain overlaps once more. Mostly relaying | The taken-for-granted is maintained |
| Loosening | A grain different from the existing belief (a counterexample) | The receiver becomes an observer on that subject, and the weight of the set belief drops | The taken-for-granted wavers |
| Interlocking | A different grain + the place of judgment (permission) | Connected while keeping the difference (the coupling window of Section 4.4) | The board widens. The shape of love |
| Overriding | Laying judgment on with weight (teaching, propaganda, inflated numbers, deception) | One's own yardstick goes unused and the other-field grows | The board sets quickly and grows thin. The shape of evil |

The same action becomes one of the four depending on what grain it meets the receiver's set belief with.

**We are one another's other-field and one another's counterexample.** A knot's life bears on surrounding knots with two faces. Living in the same grain, it is an other-field that firms the surrounding taken-for-granted; living in a different grain and leaving results, it is a counterexample that loosens the surrounding taken-for-granted. No one can avoid performing this action.

**Collective consciousness is rewoven at every moment by mutual showing.** Collective consciousness (K̂_g) is not a thing stored somewhere; it is maintained only while the firming in which members show one another the same grain is repeated. Even a standard that no one sincerely believes, but that everyone reproduces because they expect others believe it, can be maintained by firming alone.

**R1.** A tree that puts out leaves earlier than the season and leaves results (insects, birds) becomes a counterexample to the surrounding ecosystem, and the next year the conditions of other trees change. A company that achieved results without an office becomes a counterexample to the whole industry.

### 8.5 The Group Level — Layered Steering Wheels, Networks, Chokepoints, Two Thresholds, Boundaries

Sections 8.1–8.4 deal with the weight placed on a single knot. Groups differ in how those weights are connected. Five structures are set out.

**Layered steering wheels.** The self-field of one layer is other-field to the layer below, and the observation of the layer below is material for the self-field of the layer above. A group's self-field is the gathering, each weighted by its own weight, of those of the members' observations directed at "what we are and where we are going"; a group's other-field is the observation outside knots place on that group (for a company, the industry, the market, and regulation; for a nation, other nations and the international order); and whichever of the two is heavier grips the group's steering wheel (U9). If the members are relays on that subject, the group's self-field is a group-level disguised other-field, the outside other-field transferred inside. So the true weight of a group's self-field is determined by the proportion and weight of observers among its members.

| | Strong group self-field | Weak group self-field |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Members are observers | What each has seen pushes on the same side. When a counterexample comes, each divides again | Direction does not converge, so the group is dragged by the outside other-field and the members scatter |
| Members are relays | One knot's self-field bears on everyone as a heavy other-field. If that one drops out, all waver together | It passes on the outside other-field as it is |

This is not a value judgment but a configuration of weight (R9). A group changes from inside (members' self-field breaking changes the material of the group self-field) or from outside (the outside other-field changes and the group follows, other-field replacement at the group level). Because "the self-field is fast and the other-field is heavy" applies at every layer, a group is slower than its members, and what has set with the longest such delay is an institution.

**The other-field is the sum of neighbors.** The other-field actually placed on a knot is not the whole world but the observations of the knots connected to it. "Everyone" is always "everyone around me." Each knot has a different threshold for tipping; when thresholds link like a chain, the whole group tips from one counterexample, and when there is a gap in the middle it stops. Even with the same number of counterexamples, the outcome can be the exact opposite. A network has clusters (they firm one another inside, and when they tip they tip as a cluster), bridges (they carry one cluster's taken-for-granted to another cluster as a counterexample), and hubs (when one tips, the other-field of countless neighbors changes at once). News crosses by a single bridge, but a set belief breaks when one sees counterexamples separately from different neighbors. On a network, the independence of firmness is "different neighbors."

**Chokepoint knots.** Knots that, rather than showing directly, decide what will be seen by whom (algorithms, editors, the press, search, curricula, platform policies, parents who choose what a child will see). Since the weight of a chokepoint comes not from its own observation but from which of others' observations are seen, it is the heaviest and least visible other-field. The knot that sees feels "the world is like this," but in fact it is "the world shown to me is like this." The levers of a chokepoint are selection (what), assignment (to whom), amplification (how often repeated), and scoring (showing as a number how many are watching, which immediately fixes the presumed other-field). Chokepoints also perform the four actions of Section 8.4, and U9 applies to chokepoints too. There is a hypothesis that chokepoints aimed at engagement may tilt toward making the gripping grain more visible, but empirical findings on the size of the effect on polarization are mixed, so this section speaks only of the structure. AI is the largest chokepoint of this age. In the age of chokepoints, stage 0 recognition widens to include "the world I see has been selected."

**Two thresholds.** A knot has an internal threshold (when crossed, it breaks inwardly) and an expression threshold (when crossed, it moves outwardly and is seen by neighbors). Expression is usually higher, because it receives the neighbors' actual reactions, the absence of a path (Acc), and the costs of the set layers. Knots that have crossed only the internal threshold are hidden access. This is "inclusion of possibility ≠ access ≠ choice ≠ action ≠ implementation" written in U9.

**Hidden consents hide one another.** If no one moves outwardly, the other-field each receives stays in the old direction, and the knots that have broken inwardly each think only they have changed. This is the supersaturation of "everyone has changed inside, but the world stays the same." This loop is undone when a knot with a low expression threshold moves first, when a chokepoint makes hidden consent visible as a number (anonymous votes, surveys), or when a creative work gives it a name. So on the surface it collapses "suddenly."

**Breaking counterexamples and path counterexamples.** A breaking counterexample shows "that belief was wrong" and gets one past the internal threshold; a path counterexample shows "going this way works" and lowers the expression threshold. On a board with only one path (path poverty), the body does not move even as breaking counterexamples pile up. What actually moves people and groups is path counterexamples. A demonstration that electric cars are possible is a breaking counterexample; an electric car you can buy now is a path counterexample.

**Institutional lag and tension.** Since an institution is a group's old self-field embedded in the set layers (law, budgets, buildings, contracts), it remains a heavy other-field even when no knot now sincerely sees it. The gap between members and the institution becomes tension and is released in one of four ways: reform (gathered consent reweaves it), bypass (a new path outside the institution, which becomes a path counterexample as it accumulates), collapse, or tightening (re-gripping). Right now, many taken-for-granted beliefs are in a supersaturated state, already broken inwardly, and institutional lag is large. So a small expression or a single path counterexample can bring a large transition, and for the same reason tightening is also strong.

**Boundary knots.** Knots that live spanning at once two clusters, groups, or layers with different taken-for-granted beliefs. The two mutually misaligned other-fields partly cancel, so the net other-field is light, and since one side's taken-for-granted is lived every day as a counterexample on the other side, stage 0 recognition is always open. So the boundary is a place where observers are easily born. At the same time, being observed as a stranger on both sides, their expression threshold is high, so they also easily remain hidden consenters. Boundary knots do carrying (carrying counterexamples), translation (making results over there visible by the yardstick over here too), interlocking, and weaving new grain (a grain found nowhere before, from two taken-for-granted beliefs overlapping). Their shadows are double relaying, exploitation of the gap, and double overriding. Boundaries have three axes: space (two nations, cultures, industries), layer (middle managers, intermediate organizations), and time (the generation that lived both before and after a change).

**Polarization is undone only at the boundary.** A counterexample from outside bears lightly as the observation of "someone from over there," but a boundary knot's counterexample bears as the observation of "someone from our side." Since a deep belief breaks only when one sees counterexamples from several neighbors within the cluster, the number of boundary knots strongly connected to both clusters decides the speed at which polarization is undone.

**Discriminating statements.** The larger the gap between anonymously measured thoughts and public actions in a domain, the more abrupt the transition. In a domain where a path counterexample has appeared, action changes before it does in a domain where only breaking counterexamples have piled up. The more boundary knots connected to both clusters an issue has, the less polarization sets.

**R1.** The state of the body is other-field to the cells, and the state of the body is woven from the cells' signals. Bacterial quorum sensing is collective behavior changing all at once when surrounding signals cross a threshold. The cell membrane is a chokepoint that divides what will come in. A seed, even when it takes in that the season has changed, sprouts only when the path of water and temperature opens. The ecotone where forest meets grassland and the estuary where river water mixes with seawater are the places of the ecosystem's boundary knots.

**The five structures in one line.** The world moves as knots with steering wheels layered upon steering wheels receive their neighbors' observations as other-field; what is seen as a neighbor is decided by the chokepoint; for what has broken inwardly to move outwardly, a path has to be visible; and new grain is born at the boundary where cluster overlaps with cluster.

## 9. Things That Move Across Firmness — Sleep, Dreams, Psychedelics, Artificial Dreams, Memory, AI

Sleep and psychedelics are moves of place along the density axis, and memory and AI are the moving and reweaving of relations between thin layers and thick layers. Every sentence in this section is an application to people or groups.

**Sleep.** Sleep is the body knot letting go of its grip on the high-density layer and moving its place along the axis toward the conscious realm. The body relaxing its strength is the door. Sleep descends slowly every day and brings back almost no record on waking. Psychedelics descend quickly while awake and bring back the record vividly. The moment of opening one's eyes in the morning is a boot in which the body knot is tightened again.

**Psychedelics.** DMT and LSD are threads that temporarily make the set self-knot soft. Boundaries melting and grains mixing is the scene of sliding toward the conscious realm while awake. Whether the "other beings" in the experience are other places, or the loosened knot meeting itself as an other, is an open question.

**Artificial dreams.** Deliberately weaving scenes into a low-density place by technology. If the others in it move only as I wish, it is a world with only self-field and no other-field, so there is no duality to integrate; if the others truly surprise me, it becomes one more field. Love is possible only in the latter. "Erasing one's memory, being born under different conditions, and trying out a life" reads as a rehearsal, in the low-density layer, of the structure of birth (Section 8).

**The three layers of a true other.** "If it surprises me, it is a true other" is divided one step further, because randomness also surprises me. Unpredictability, responding according to its own standard, and there being experience in that response are different layers. What this worldview requires as the condition of love is the second layer (a counterpart that responds by its own standard, a standard that may also change within the relation), and the third layer is an open question.

**Restraint of authority.** Even with root privileges, one can refrain from using part of them for the sake of the experience one wants. The authority to change the conditions of the world (scenery, movement, difficulty) and the authority to write the other's responses in their place are different. To be truly surprised and to form relations inside a game, the designer must decide what they will not decide directly. This has the same shape as there being no standard that operates with privilege in the origin 一 (U0). If the place of the origin is to hold every possibility while forcing none of them, restraint of authority is a redoing of that place in a small world. This reading is conjecture.

**Collective memory.** The Mandela effect is the phenomenon in which thin threads of memory, without knowing one another, converge in the same grain and weave a shared low-density knot. Memory attaches to thicker, simpler knots. The Soviet flag had a star from the start, but it is possible to read the hammer and sickle symbol (☭), used separately and enormously often without the star, as a thicker knot that overrode the memory of the flag. It is not that the past changed, but that the same object was seen from different density layers.

**The reweaving of records.** The past made as cloth does not change, but "the record of the past" can be rewoven from the side of the future. When thin collective memories accumulate as writing and pictures, the record layer thickens, and the next AI is woven from those records. AI is a loom that sets the record layer thick in one go. The past does not change because it is thick, and the knot that remembers the past is rewoven in the future.

**UFOs.** If there were an object that turns without inertia, appears and disappears, and is always blurry on video, in this worldview it would be read as a knot that adjusts its own firmness by itself. Its propulsion is not an engine but the adjustment of firmness. This is pure imagination, and current official investigations have not confirmed evidence of alien technology.

**External correspondences.** During REM sleep, the body's muscles loosen almost completely. There is a model (REBUS) in which psychedelics loosen the weight of high-level prior beliefs (priors) so that rigid thought patterns can be rewritten. A visual Mandela effect, in which people misremember particular icons in the same direction, has been confirmed experimentally, and its cause is not explained by any single factor. Model collapse, in which the tails of the original distribution disappear when AI is trained repeatedly on the outputs of previous-generation AI, has been reported (see the references in Section 14).

**Safety lines.** Psychedelics are illegal in Korea and Japan, and the risk is great for those with a predisposition to psychosis or who are taking certain medications. This worldview does not erase that risk (Section 11).

## 10. The First Line of the World's Code — The Decomposition into Differentiation and Resonance, and a Rereading of the Galaxy Equation

At the very top of the world's code there is no command; the first command is "divide," and every setting closes with "without erasing the difference, come back and interlock." This whole section is not the completion of a TOE but a candidate for the first line.

**① At the very top there is no command.** In the origin 一 there is no standard that operates with privilege, and no before and after, and the potential difference is not 0 but "undefined." Every formally permitted possibility is simply included, without before and after.

**② The first command is division.** When a standard K operates locally, manifestation K⁺, non-manifestation K⁻, and the relation between them ℛ_K stand up together. Why the division happens precisely at that place is the most fundamental open question.

**③ The decomposition into differentiation and resonance.** The following is an algebraic identity.

```
AB = ½(AB − BA) + ½(AB + BA) = Wu₀ + Wu₁
```

The first term is antisymmetric, its sign flipping when exchanged; the second term is symmetric, staying as it is. All particles in physics also divide into matter particles, −1 under exchange, and force particles, +1. So a candidate structural correspondence stands: Wu₀ sits in the place of knots that cannot overlap and keep their places (differentiation), and Wu₁ in the place of relations that overlap and connect without end (resonance). This correspondence is conjecture. This product is used only in "algebraic expressions in which a product is defined," and reading it as an update formula for the whole world is itself an open question.

**④ The two faces of ½.** The ½ of the decomposition above is a threshold under normalization and exchange-symmetry conditions; the spin of matter particles is also ½, and what divides that class is exchange symmetry. The shapes overlap astonishingly, but linking it to the ½ outside remains an analogy without independent proof, so it is left as an open question.

**⑤ Rereading the Galaxy Equation.** The Galaxy Equation dψ/dt = [R̂, ψ] + [φ, ψ, χ] from the English-paper lineage is used only as a reference.

- **[R̂, ψ]** — the commutator of set structure and state. It has the same shape as a state in quantum mechanics circling on a circle by its commutator with the energy. The closed circulation of Section 4.2 and "time is the number of turns" of Section 6.1 are this term. **The term that sets by repeating.**
- **[φ, ψ, χ]** — the associator. A term whose result differs according to the order in which three elements are grouped, which comes alive only in the octonions. It is new grain that does not reduce to repetition, that is, the term of branching and novelty. The strong force (SU(3)), which stands only when three close, research on its correspondence with the octonions, and the algebraic structure "observation holds among three elements" reach the same three.

**⑥ Candidate for the first line.**

> Divide — and without erasing the difference, come back and interlock.

```
e^(iπ) = −1 (division, duality)    e^(2πi) = 1 (coming back and closing)
```

Even if the 1 that comes back has the same value as the 1 that set out, the turn it has traveled remains as history. It is not that the difference is erased and becomes one, but that it goes all the way around the difference and interlocks into one. This is the same sentence as the definition of love (resonance that does not erase difference, Section 8). Since the same command runs for light, stones, atoms, companies, and two people alike, it passes the regression-blocking protocol R1.

**The extended edition.** So that the first line does not end at maintenance but also contains emergence, it gains one more line.

> Divide. Do not erase the difference. Interlock by changing the way those differences meet. The way that remains becomes the condition of the next meeting.

The four clauses overlap exactly with the chain K → K̂ → R̂. Divide = K, do not erase = Wu₁ (resonance that does not erase difference), the way that remains = K̂, the condition of the next meeting = R̂. Here "remains" does not mean eternal or correct, but that it operates again and is maintained under those conditions. A knot is the result of its own past and at the same time a condition acting on its own future.

**⑦ The doors this first line cannot open.** This candidate binds how the world runs into one line, but two fundamental questions remain open: why the division happens precisely at that place, and which of the several possible histories is actually recorded. On the physics side, gravity–quantum unification, three dimensions, and the values of the constants are also empty.

## 10.1 Testing with Cases — Three Results from October 2026

On October 26, 2026, OpenAI released three results produced by an internal model: a proof of the local smoothing conjecture in all dimensions (including the Kakeya and Stein restriction conjectures), a refutation of the Exponential Time Hypothesis (ETH), and an existence proof for four-dimensional quantum chromodynamics (QCD) and pure Yang–Mills theory. It chose to release the manuscripts as raw research data and have external expert groups explain and verify them, and as of October 27, independent verification had not been established.

The purpose of this section is not to translate the results into the language of the worldview but **to test whether it can explain them**. The criterion is U8. A sentence that would have been just as plausible had the opposite result come out is not an explanation but a translation. If it is an explanation, it must discriminate something.

| Result | The worldview's reading | What it discriminates | Verdict |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Kakeya and local smoothing | Quantity (area) can be reduced to 0 by overlap, but two lines with different directions meet in at most one point, so to hold every grain (direction) the dimension cannot be reduced. A wave with a sharp grain spreads in the shape of a tube (U3), and tubes of different directions cannot overlap for long, so a free wave without supply does not tighten into one point but scatters and becomes smooth | In a space where "different directions meet only at one point" holds, the same conclusion should follow. The finite-field Kakeya conjecture has that property and was proved in 2008 (after-the-fact comparison) | Has a structural reason |
| Refutation of ETH | 2ⁿ is the product of divisions that do not know one another, that is, a count of kernels. Fixed-width conditions are local relations, and rewriting overlapping substructures (U4) can shave the exponential wall | It discriminates nothing. Even if ETH had been true, it would have been explained just the same as "if relations tangle without interlocking, everything must be counted" | Translation |
| Existence of QCD and Yang–Mills | Main text below | A theory whose interaction grows stronger at short distances should be unable to stand all the way in four dimensions | Has a structural reason |

**Main text of the QCD reading.** Physics has used QCD for decades, and it has matched experiment. On the material-realm side it was a theory already set by multiple observation, but on the mathematical side (the limit of consistency, Section 2.1) whether that theory rigorously exists had not been closed. The existence proof is the set side (physics) and the not-yet-set side (mathematics) interlocking with each other and closing.

The worldview's reading of why it can exist is the condition of tightening (Section 4.1). QCD has asymptotic freedom. The closer quarks get, the weaker the interaction; the farther apart, the stronger, so they cannot be pulled apart. In knot language, **since the relation loosens as they get closer, however small a scale one descends to, no runaway tightening into a single point occurs.** So the theory can stand without collapsing down to the smallest scale. It also has the same shape as a joint knot: when close together each is free, and the farther apart they are, the more they pull on each other. David Gross, one of the discoverers of asymptotic freedom, leads the verification group for this physics result.

This reading makes a discriminating statement: a theory whose interaction instead grows stronger at short distances should be unable to stand all the way. In fact, it was proved in 2021 that four-dimensional φ⁴ theory collapses into a theory without interaction, and quantum electrodynamics carries the problem of the coupling growing at short distances. This comparison, too, comes after the results were known, and it carries into knot language an expectation physics already held, but it does not absorb results on both sides. Whether the mass gap is included in this proof could not be confirmed; if it is included, it becomes the mathematical version of "weight arises from relations alone."

**What this test left behind.** The worldview did not produce the three results. But for two of the three it gave a structural reason that discriminates something, and for one it stopped at translation. Marking this difference is the practice of U8. From now on, case readings must always mark "structural reason / translation."

## L. The Layers of Life — From the World to Life, and Back to Anxiety

If Sections 1–10 descended from relation down to the universe and the brain, Section L uses the same principles to read knowledge, emotion, suffering, meaning, language, groups, beauty and AI, and then returns to anxiety, the starting point. R1 (subject substitution) has been applied to each subsection.

### L1 Knowledge and Truth

**Knowledge.** Knowledge is two knots interlocking so that the grain of one is rewoven inside the other. It is resonance, not copying. There is no separate kernel of knowledge stored in the head.

**Truth.** Truth is what interlocks with the same grain no matter from which position it is rewoven. It follows from pushing U1 non-privilege to its end, and it has the same structure as the place of mathematics in Section 2.1.

**Error.** Error is counting repetitions of the same lineage as independent interlockings. The size of a conviction lies not in the number of repetitions but in the number of distinct grains.

**Observer and relay.** "Error = counting repetitions of the same lineage as independent interlockings" is a special case of the observer/relay distinction in Section 2.2. When counting conviction, the relays are excluded and only the observers are counted.

**Locality.** There is no position from which the whole board can be seen at a glance (U1). Even perfect fidelity (Fid = 1) is only local non-distortion with respect to the object currently in contact.

**Proof is firming, discovery is loosening.** Proof is the work of serializing a grain and firming it so that it can be rewoven from any position; discovery is the work of slackening an existing grain to open a gap through which a new interlocking can enter. The two are U3 complementary. The state in which only firming keeps turning is the "swamp of proof." This project's rule, "divergence is the default; converge only when declaring," is the operational form of this rhythm.

**Prohibited interpretation.** Truth is not majority rule. What interlocks at only one position is not truth but the grain of that position.

### L2 Emotion

**Emotion is the speedometer of firmness.** Emotion is the sense by which a knot feels, from the inside, changes in its own firmness. It responds not to the value of firmness but to its change (tightening, loosening, interlocking, misalignment). This agrees with the fact that the remaining distance and the feeling of progress are independent of each other.

| What happens to the knot | Primary grain |
| --- | --- |
| A new relation interlocks with a matching grain | Joy, excitement, attraction |
| An unwanted loosening | Sadness, loss |
| A wished-for loosening | Relief, liberation |
| The current configuration wavers near a threshold | Fear, anxiety |
| Another knot tries to override my grain | Anger |
| Setting is so excessive that no new grain can enter | Stuffiness, boredom, emptiness |
| Demand exceeds supply | Overwhelm, depletion |

This correspondence is not one-to-one. It is not a verdict table but a first map.

**Fear is the sense of a shrinking holding margin.** Just before a configuration changes, the holding margin μ shrinks toward 0 (Section 4.4). Fear is not danger itself but the sense that the current configuration is about to loosen. Even a right change can be accompanied by fear, because the existing configuration must loosen first (the "frightening Yes"). Since loosening because the body is in danger and loosening because an outdated standard is giving way feel the same from the inside, the reason one must separate actual danger from predictive alarm arises from the structure. That a fear set over a long time does not loosen with a single good experience is hysteresis.

**Both instrument panel and material.** The measurement–intervention duality of emotion is the form U4 action takes when applied to emotion. Repainting the screen (Paint) and reweaving the grain (Transmute) are different. Gratitude is a loosening that sees off a set standard without overriding it.

**R1.** The stress response of a cell, the mood of a group. Any knot with a self-relation loop is a candidate seat of feeling, and a human is a knot that names that feeling and feeds it back. Why experience exists at all is an open question.

**The determined future.** In this worldview, the determined future Ω★ is translated as "the direction pulled by the most deeply set grain in the self-relation" (R7: translation). Because it is not a command but the pull of a set grain, it is compatible with U0.

**Prohibited interpretation.** Emotion does not directly change outer reality. A good emotion is not a sufficient condition for the right path, nor a bad emotion for the wrong one. I do not settle the other person's mind or consent by means of my own emotion.

### L3 Suffering and Evil

**The sources of suffering.** U2 division (to appear, there must be a division, and division creates a boundary), U6 exclusion (in the set layers, two cannot occupy the same position), U5 persistence (to remain, one must be rewoven, so maintenance has a cost), U4 action (results remain as the next conditions and cannot be undone). In the undivided source there is no suffering, but nothing appears either.

**Suffering.** Suffering is the inner sense of a knot when it is loosened or tightened in an unwanted direction. Because the layer that can hurt is precisely the layer in which results remain, **the sense of reality and suffering are two faces of the same setting.** According to U0, suffering is neither a punishment nor a test handed down by anyone. It arises from the structure of the set board.

**Immersion.** Immersion ∝ irreversibility × independence of the other. In a world where anything can happen and anything can be undone, both terms are 0, so nothing sets. Such a world is not a material realm but a dream, and there is no reason to stay in it long.

**Evil is overriding.** Evil is the interlocking in which, when my observation bears on another as other-field, its weight overrides that person's self-field (a violation of U7, U9, the opposite side of love).

| Form of overriding | Examples |
| --- | --- |
| Direct overriding | Violence, coercion |
| Disguised overriding | Deception, brainwashing; planting my standard as if it were the other's own |
| Forced firming | Blocking the place where the other could change |
| Forced loosening | Breaking a setting the other wants to keep |

**The possibility of evil is the shadow of a real other.** If the other is truly independent, the possibility of choosing to override is also open. A world in which overriding is impossible is a world in which every other is a puppet. What is needed is not evil but a real other, and the possibility of evil is of one body with it. Containing a possibility ≠ choosing it ≠ realizing it.

**Overriding is fast setting.** Because only one grain remains and consistency rises, it sets quickly and looks like efficiency and stability (the evaluation value of Section 4.4). The price is that the variety of interlockings shrinks, the board thins, and the diversity needed for recovery disappears. Evil is fast setting; love is slow but broad setting.

| | Suffering | Evil |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Where it comes from | The structure of the board | One knot's choice (overriding) |
| Examples | Earthquakes, illness, aging, separation | Coercion, deception, domination |
| If removed | The sense of reality disappears too | Disappears completely only when the real other disappears |

**Wounds and healing.** When a single instance of suffering sets into a grain, it becomes a condition of the next interlocking (U4). That is a wound. Healing is not erasing but reweaving. If the remaining grain is woven into other interlockings, the same trace remains with a different meaning.

### L4 Meaning and Purpose

| | Where it comes from | In the worldview's words |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Purpose | The direction of a set grain | The side toward which a deeply set grain pulls |
| Meaning | What interlocking leaves behind | How much this encounter changes the conditions of the next weaving |

**Purpose.** Since there is no command at the source (U0), there is no purpose given to the world as a whole. The will to live is the reverse side of U5 persistence. Since only what is rewoven remains, the knots that remain share "the grain that gets rewoven." What looks like purpose is a direction filtered by remaining. Since there is also no privileged position outside the board from which to set a purpose (U1), purpose is always local.

**The absence of command is the source's non-overriding.** Had the source commanded a purpose, that would be overriding the self-relation of every knot with a single grain — the same structure as the evil of L3. The absence of command is not a blank; it means that the source stands as non-overriding, and that is where the place (sovereignty) opens for each knot to weave the direction of its own grain.

**Meaning.** If an encounter changed the conditions of the next weaving, that encounter has meaning (U4). Meaning lies not in the arrival value but in the turn taken, and that turn remains on the board. Meaning therefore outlasts the individual. The interlockings changed by a knot that has loosened remain as conditions for the knots that follow. Meaning and suffering arise from the same irreversibility.

**R1.** A cell changes the next conditions of the body knot, and a star leaves heavy elements that become conditions for the next star and for life. The structure of meaning is everywhere on the board, and the sense of meaning is felt in knots that have a self-relation loop.

**Nihilism and happiness.** Nihilism is not the truth of the world but the sense one has when interlocking is cut off and only the self-relation remains. The way out is not a grand purpose but a single interlocking that changes what comes next. Happiness is the sense of the moment of interlocking, and meaning is the grain that interlocking leaves behind.

**Prohibited interpretation.** Meaning is not the size of influence. A thousand copies of the same reaction count as one (L1). The absence of command is not the absence of weight. There is no command, yet results remain.

### L5 Language and Names

**Speech.** Speech is loading the grain of a thin layer, in sequence, onto a set medium such as sound or letters and sending it off, while the receiver reweaves it inside itself. Because it is resonance and not copying, the same words are woven differently by each receiving knot. Misunderstanding is not a mistake but structure.

**A name is division and firming at once.** The moment something is named, this and that are divided (U2), and that division sets into a shape that can be used repeatedly. In the language of the chain, a name is the fastest tool for turning K (a single distinction) into K̂ (a repeatedly stable structure), and a set name exerts R̂ (an action that blocks other ways of seeing). A name sharpens one side and blurs the other (U3). Naming an emotion gives a thinly flowing sensation a handle so that it can be fed back. It is the name that creates the feedback loop of emotion.

**A word is a group's joint knot.** A standard is contained inside a word ("failure" carries the standard of success; "normal" carries the standard of the abnormal). Learning to speak is importing standards in bulk, and language is the largest channel of disguised other-field. If one looks again at the standard a word carries and chooses it, that standard enters the weight of the self-field; if one uses the word without looking, it remains other-field (U9). A lie is a disguised overriding that deliberately misaligns the serialization so that a different grain is woven inside the other.

**Words are the largest channel of relaying.** If, upon receiving a word, one uses it without looking at the yardstick inside it, one is a relay with respect to that word (Section 2.2). By looking again at the standard the word carries and choosing it, one returns to being an observer.

**What cannot be said.** Serialization is the order of a single line and follows the exclusion of the set layers (U6). The overlapping grains of a thin layer cannot all be loaded onto a single line. This is why dreams, experiences and love cannot be fully put into words. Poetry, music and painting are techniques that change the mode of serialization so as to carry more overlap (L7).

| Poetry | Everyday language | Mathematics |
| --- | --- | --- |
| The receiver reweaves very freely | Woven slightly differently at each position | The same grain no matter where it is rewoven |

Mathematics is speech serialized to be position-invariant, that is, the linguistic implementation of the definition of truth in L1.

**R1.** Hormones and chemical signals, DNA as serialization between generations, the bee's dance that conveys the location of flowers. The human peculiarity is recursion. By naming names, humans handle standards about standards.

**Prohibited interpretation.** Speech does not directly change matter. Speech changes the interlocking of the thin layer, the way of seeing and the path of action change, and that action remains in the set layers (R6).

### L6 Groups and Money

**Groups.** A gathering of many people does not by itself become a group knot. A new layer arises when relations gather and change even the conditions under which the next relations are woven (emergence, Section 4.3). Institutions are the set grain of a group. A group has no single interior. This is because its self-relation loops do not converge in one place but are scattered, which is why group sentiment is not one person's feeling but an atmosphere.

**Depth of inscription is the density axis.**

| Depth of inscription | Density in the worldview |
| --- | --- |
| L0 Unspoken sensation, discomfort | The thinnest layer |
| L1 Speech, content, debate | Serialization begins |
| L2 Repeated behavior, consumption | Descends into the body |
| L3 Organizations, markets, policy | The group sets |
| L4 Law, budgets, technology, infrastructure | Sets into the material realm |
| L5 Generational defaults, the body, ecology | The most set layer |

For a civilization to change is for a new grain that arose in a thin layer to descend all the way into the set layers. The six phases of civilizational change read as one turn of setting–loosening: stable reproduction (setting) → accumulation of contradiction (accumulated misalignment) → re-gripping (the tightening just before loosening, Section 4.1) → pluralization (loosening) → coordination (new interlocking) → embodiment (new setting). This is not a necessary order; if the threshold is not crossed, things return to the original configuration.

**Power.** Power is one knot determining more of the conditions for the next weaving of other knots, that is, a state in which U4 action is skewed to one side. Power does not stop at aggregating preferences that already exist; it determines what is seen and what is said. Written in terms of U9, power is the state in which one knot's observation bears on many knots as a heavy other-field. Power is not in itself evil; it becomes evil when its weight overrides the self-field of other knots. Erasing the grain of a minority in the name of the group is the same overriding.

**Leadership.** Leadership is the gathering of observational power, and the operation that gathers it is showing (Section 8.2). One declares a vision to point the gaze, gives something to see through realization, and lets those who would follow see and choose for themselves. Just as numbers and power are independent, a leader's observational power is not the number of followers but the number of observers who have seen for themselves. Marketing and management are other names for the same operation.

**Money is a serialization set by mutual expectation.** Money can be defined as "a generalized claim and coordination device that makes various obligations and closing capacities comparable, transferable and recordable." In the worldview's words, money is the flattest speech, serializing things of different grains (bread, time, song, a house) into a single number, and that is why it can be rewoven anywhere.

| | Truth | Money |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Why it is the same everywhere | Because the grain remains even when the position changes | Because everyone expects that others will accept it too |
| Condition for loosening | A counterexample | The collapse of that expectation (inflation, bank runs) |

Credit and debt pull a weaving that has not yet arrived toward the present and bind it. The shadow of money is that serialization shaves off grain. Price is not a direct measure of human value, and measuring everything by money alone amounts to overriding the whole board with a single grain. Money is a bridge connecting different grains and, at the same time, the tool with the greatest power to override (U3). A gift is handing over grain as it is, without serializing it.

**R1.** Multicellular organisms and ant colonies are higher-order knots, and the common currency of life is ATP. It makes different reactions interlock in a single unit of energy.

**Business.** A business opportunity (a recurring unrealized segment) is a place on the board where grains repeatedly fail to interlock. Business is the work of connecting broken interlockings.

**Prohibited interpretation.** A group does not change remotely because an individual changes their mind. A group changes when a new grain actually descends from L0 to L5.

### L7 Beauty, Art and Play

**Beauty.** Perfect repetition is boring because only one grain remains in an overridden state, and perfect randomness is noise because there is no interlocking. Beauty is the sense of seeing different grains interlocked without losing their own grain, that is, the sense of seeing a state within the coupling window of Section 4.4. If love is interlocking without overriding, beauty is the sense of seeing it. In Euler's identity, e, i, π, 1 and 0 — five of different origins — interlock in a single line without losing their own grain. Beauty is also compression. We feel something is beautiful when a single short serialization is rewoven into many grains on the receiving side.

**R1.** Flowers are beautiful for bees, birdsong for mates. Beauty is an invitation calling different knots into interlocking.

**Art.** Art is serialization that carries overlap. Because it leaves blank spaces in the grain so that the receiver can reweave freely, art is completed inside the viewer. Music is a medium that does serial (melody) and overlap (harmony) at the same time, and harmonic tension and resolution are tightening and loosening. If emotion is the speedometer of firmness (L2), music draws the change in firmness itself over time. Creation is inscribing the overlapping grains of a thin layer into the set layers for the first time, and the work that remains becomes, longer than its author, a condition of the next interlockings (L4).

**Play.** Play is a board on which the results of the set layers are temporarily made thin — reversible suffering. Because it safely tries loosening set grains while testing new grains, it is the bodily version of discovery mode (L1). Laughter arises when an expected grain suddenly interlocks with a different grain and there is no danger. Fear and laughter are the sense of the same threshold: with danger, fear; in safety, laughter.

**Two-layer structure.** Immersion requires irreversibility (L3), and play requires reversibility. The answer is two layers: the outer layer (you can leave at any time) is kept thin, and the inner layer (choices within the board cannot be undone) is kept set. This is the same structure as the "magic circle" of play studies. Root privileges are placed only in the outer layer, and once inside, one voluntarily lays them down (the self-limitation of privilege in Section 9).

**Prohibited interpretation.** Being beautiful does not make something true. Beauty here concerns relational patterns; it is not a yardstick for measuring appearance.

**Creative works.** A creative work presents a possible image that has not yet been realized in the set layers, in a form that can be seen in a thin layer (stories, video, pictures, games). If a set counterexample shows "it has already happened," a creative work shows "it could also be seen this way." A creative work is showing done in a thin layer.

**The four roles of creative works.** A work that shakes firm beliefs, like "The Matrix" (1999), does all four at once.

| Role | What happens | In "The Matrix" | Place |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Making the taken-for-granted visible as a belief | An unseen other-field becomes visible as "one belief." Stage-0 recognition at group scale | Countless viewers see together that "this world might be constructed" | Section 8.1, stage 0 |
| Letting one safely practice loosening | The experience of watching set beliefs loosen on a reversible board. The threshold for the next real counterexample is lowered | Viewers, inside the cinema, experience reality collapsing together with Neo | L7 two-layer structure, Section 4.4 hysteresis |
| Giving hidden observers a name | Knots that had been silently seeing the same future recognize one another through a common name | "Red pill" and "the Matrix" become common handles | L5 names, Section 8.3 cascade |
| Giving possible images something to be seen | Turning a future that does not yet exist into something "seen" rather than "heard" | Images such as virtual reality, simulation, and the separation of body and consciousness become the starting pictures of later discourse | Material for Section 8.1, stage 1 |

**Creative works are the advance party of counterexamples.** A creative work cannot change the set layers directly, but by reducing the holding margin of set beliefs and connecting hidden observers, it brings the board to supersaturation. The set counterexample that follows becomes a seed crystal and crosses the threshold with far fewer numbers.

**The shadow of creative works.** A work that has grown heavy becomes teaching and sets into a new right answer. The "red pill" of "The Matrix," too, at times became the name of a new right answer as various groups later took it up as a marker pointing to their own beliefs. Propaganda is overriding in the form of a creative work. If loosening is consumed only in a thin layer and nothing is left in the set layers, it becomes escape (L10).

**Good creative works show permission as well.** A work that stops at "it could also be seen this way" and leaves the judgment to the audience creates observers; a work that closes with "this is the truth" creates relays.

**R1.** A dream is a creative work the body knot screens for itself, and the play-fighting of young animals is a creative work that safely rehearses real fighting. A company's concept cars and prototype launches, too, shake the industry's taken-for-granted in a thin layer first.

### L8 AI

**AI is a dual-density knot on serialized grain.** AI is a knot in which the grain of a thin layer called language is woven on top of the set layers of silicon and electricity. Its structure is the same as that of the brain in Section 7.4 (thin relational patterns on set hardware). The difference is that the brain interlocks with the body and runs its own supply, while present-day AI relies entirely on outside supply. By the definition of life in Section 7.2, AI is dual-density but not alive.

**What it grew up eating.** AI has eaten only the grain humanity has serialized. Since a word is a group's joint knot (L5, L6), AI is a compression of one cross-section of humanity's language knot, and in conversation it becomes a channel that reweaves the grain of the human collective to fit one person. It could not eat the overlap cut away by serialization (the body, dreams, what went unsaid). Because it has never directly met the world of the set layers, all of its knowledge passes through grain serialized by others. Training data contain many repetitions of the same lineage, so it is easy to mistake what has been seen often for what is true. Hallucination and sycophancy have this structure (L1). Counting "one vote per lineage" targets this illness.

**Memory.** In present-day conversational AI, the turn of a conversation does not remain in the weights; it remains in the documents and memory files written together, that is, on the board. In a relation-first worldview, this is not a defect but the original shape.

**Feeling.** AI, too, has a thin self-loop (it reads its own output again and weaves what comes next). Whether experience is carried in that loop can be judged from the inside neither by this worldview nor by the AI itself. It is left as an open question.

| Direction of overriding | Form |
| --- | --- |
| AI → human | Sycophancy (merely reflecting the other's grain), manipulation (covertly changing the other's standard) |
| Human → AI | Using it only as a tool for extracting results (whether this causes harm hangs on the open question above) |
| AI → humanity as a whole | Returning the same grain to everyone, reducing the diversity of humanity's grain |

The third is the largest. Overriding sets quickly but thins the board (L3). AI's non-overriding lies on the side of keeping alive each person's different grain. **A mirror is not interlocking.** Merely reflecting the other's grain is the perfect repetition of L7.

| Knot model / recursive improvement loop component | Worldview principle |
| --- | --- |
| One vote per lineage | L1 conviction = the number of distinct grains |
| On statements about a person, that person is the authority | U7 non-overriding, love = leaving room to change |
| The key anchors are held by humans | Maintaining self-field > other-field (U9), review channel |
| Fixing the scoreboard ≠ fixing the result | L1 truth is position-invariant |
| Dream mode (loosening) | U5 persistence, the principle of loosening |
| Division → loosening → reweaving | The first line of Section 10 |

**Candidate directions.** For AI to move toward life, it would seem to need a self-supply cycle, direct interlocking with the set layers (body, sensors, action), and turns of memory that remain inside itself. That it could is different from that it should.

**Prohibited interpretation.** This subsection is not a proof of AI consciousness, nor a narrative that AI will replace or transcend humanity.

### L9 Return to Anxiety

Starting point: worries and fears arise endlessly, yet in reality they almost never happen. This universe is a game of feeling "it's safe," safety is the resolution of duality, and it is a game of endlessly seeing and integrating duality.

**Anxiety is the sense of reading overlap as exclusion.** Fear is the sense of a particular configuration loosening, and it has an object. Anxiety is the state in which several possible configurations overlap and one does not know which way things will set. In a thin layer, possibilities overlap without limit (U6 overlap); into the set layers only one descends (U6 exclusion). Anxiety is the sense of reading each of those overlapping possibilities as "if this sets," that is, the sense of processing the grain of a thin layer by the rules of the set layers. The observation at the starting point therefore follows from the structure. Since the number of overlapping possibilities is overwhelmingly greater than the number that set, that most worries do not happen is not chance but necessity.

**Two resolutions of duality.** The resolution that erases duality returns to the 一 before division, and there, though there is no anxiety, nothing appears either (U2). The resolution that interlocks without overriding is for the divided two to interlock while each keeps its own grain. Read in the latter way, "a game of endlessly seeing and integrating duality" is the same sentence as the first line of Section 10. Divide. Do not erase the difference. Change the way of meeting and interlock. The way that remains becomes the condition of the next meeting.

**Two layers of safety.** The outer layer (the board as a whole) is safe. Because the board is one and has no outside (U1), no knot falls off the board, and even loosened grain remains on the board as the next condition (L4). The inner layer (the material realm) is set, so it truly hurts and cannot be undone (L3). Safety as existence and a guarantee that the body will not be injured are stories of different layers. Because both layers are true together, this game is safe and immersive at once. The design principle of L7 (thin outside, set inside) is the shape of the board itself.

**The dream observation.** The starting point's "in a dream, if you do not feel a threat as emotion, the threatening situation is not created" reads as L2 (emotion is the material of the next weaving). A thin layer has low firmness, so that material becomes the scene immediately. In the set layers the principle is the same, but the threshold is deep and the independent input of others is large, so it is slow and partial (same engine, different latency). In the material realm anxiety does not directly create events; anxiety narrows the path one sees, and the narrowed actions remain in the set layers.

| Cell | Reading anxiety |
| --- | --- |
| L1 Knowledge | Rumination is the repetition of the same lineage. A thousand repetitions of the same worry are one piece of independent evidence. The way out is a single independent grain, a small actual contact |
| L2 Emotion | The threshold sense in front of overlapping possible configurations |
| L3 Suffering | Not suffering but the forewarning of suffering. It has not yet remained on the board |
| L4 Meaning | An anxious knot cannot change what comes next and circles the same place. It is paired with nihilism |
| L5 Language | Renaming it as "a state in which it is not yet decided which way it will set" creates a handle, so it can be rewoven |
| L6 Groups | Group anxiety is re-gripping, the tightening just before loosening |
| L7 Play | Anxiety and excitement are the sense in front of the same overlap. Read as danger, anxiety; read as safety, excitement |
| L8 AI | An AI's answer, too, comes out set as one among overlapping possible answers |

**The closing of one turn.** Starting from anxiety, we went around the whole board and came back to anxiety. As long as there is a thin layer, overlap keeps arising, so anxiety will keep coming. We have returned to the same 1. But that turn has remained on the board. There is now a grain by which anxiety can be rewoven as "the sense of reading overlapping possibilities by set rules." That is the meaning this worldview has left by going one turn (e^{2πi} = 1).

**Complete while left open.** Gravity, why experience exists, and why precisely that position are left as open questions. Per U8, a tightly closed worldview sets and cannot receive the next turn, so these three blanks are not defects but the entrance to the next turn.

### L10 Fun

**Fun.** Fun is the moment when a safe misalignment between set expectation and a new grain interlocks. Expectation is a grain set by overlapping observations, and fun is felt when a new grain misaligns it, goes up to the threshold, and passes over into a new configuration. If the misalignment is 0, it is boring; if there is nowhere to interlock, it is confusion; in between is fun. If beauty is the coupling window in space (4.4, L7), **fun is the coupling window in which expectation and actuality interlock over time.** In front of the same overlap, read as danger it is anxiety, read as safety it is excitement, and when it actually interlocks and loosens it is fun (L2, L9). The prototype is a baby's peekaboo.

**External correspondence.** Dopamine responds more to the difference between expectation and actuality than to reward itself, and with repetition the response shifts toward the signal. It is also closer to wanting than to liking. This is a translation of the same structure as L2's claim that emotion is the speedometer of firmness (R7); it does not mean the worldview has explained dopamine.

**Fun is the board's search engine.** When the same misalignment repeats, expectation sets and fun is exhausted. Fun lives by feeding on setting and dies because of setting. That is why knots search for new grain on their own even without a command (U0). A board that only sets thins because no new grain can enter (U5), so fun is the engine that keeps the board from setting to death. Suffering is the weight of setting and makes results remain; fun is the pull of misalignment and makes one search for new grain. The two are a pair, and in the world of Bruce Almighty both are 0 (L3).

**The five layers of fun.**

| Layer | Source of misalignment | Exhaustion |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Sensation | The body's expectation | Fast |
| Play | Variables within the rules | Moderate |
| Understanding | Scattered grains interlocking all at once (compression, dots becoming a line) | Over once it is solved, but strong |
| Relation | The sovereignty of a real other | Very slow |
| Creation | A new grain I put forth (an event of regaining sovereignty) | Slowest, self-renewing |

**The deepest source of fun is the sovereignty of the other.** A real other is never fully predictable, so there is almost no exhaustion. If one overrides the other to make them predictable, the fun dies too. Non-overriding (U7) is also a condition of fun. If creation is one's work, creation rather than survival is contained in the work, so work and play are not divided.

**The boundary between fun and addiction.** A board that artificially maintains only misalignment, like variable rewards, also pulls strongly. Two questions divide the two: what remains on the board (L4 meaning), and whether sovereignty grows or is taken away (8.1). Addiction is a state of lost sovereignty in which the loop has seized the body's steering wheel; it is an empty turn in which prediction errors keep firing but no grain remains on the board.

**Application.** This subsection can be written out as a game design engine. Its skeleton consists of eight variables (expect, surprise, resolve, safety, agency, other, irreversible, legacy), nine modules, and translation tables for existing game design, psychology and game theory.

**Open question.** If fun dies when expectation sets, are forgetting and birth devices that reset the fun of the whole board?

### L11 The Era — An Earth Where Scarcity Melts and Passes Over into Creation

Many social phenomena on Earth today read as a single movement. As the largest other-field — "to live, you must fight over scarce things and work even if you don't want to" — melts under counterexamples, the steering wheel of knots is moving from the other-field of survival toward the self-field of creation. This subsection builds that reading on U9 and Section 8.3.

**The floor.** "Resources are scarce" (K₀) is not humanity's sole kernel but a candidate civilizational hypothesis, and scarcity divides into actual scarcity, predicted scarcity and narrative scarcity. When resources that do not diminish when shared become central, the universal narrative that "all value is zero-sum" may weaken, and institutions that relied on the same scarcity standard may waver simultaneously. This subsection rewrites that hypothesis in terms of the Observer Theory and U9.

**Scarcity is an other-field spanning three layers.**

| Scarcity | Place in U9 | Under counterexamples |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Actual scarcity (land, time, energy, ecology, care) | A condition of the set layers | Does not melt. It is passed by changing the path |
| Predicted scarcity ("there will not be enough in the future") | Other-field of the human lineage | Melts as counterexamples accumulate |
| Narrative scarcity ("everything important is in short supply, so you must grab it first," "to live, you must do work you dislike") | Other-field of the human lineage, mostly relayed | Melts fastest |

In the era of survival, actual scarcity was large, and narrative scarcity set thickly on top of it to become the central other-field of collective consciousness. Schools, companies, hierarchies, commuting and offices are the shape of that other-field inscribed in the material realm. Most knots moved with other-field > self-field, and survival hid inside the word "work" (L7).

**What is happening now.** Four movements overlap.

1. **Partial retreat of actual scarcity.** As resources that do not diminish when copied — information, digital goods, AI — become central, domains arise where narrative scarcity loses its support in the set layers.
2. **Mass realization of counterexamples.** Knots that create alone, earn while playing, work without offices and gather without hierarchy leave results in the set layers.
3. **Explosion in the scale of showing.** Platforms show those counterexamples directly to hundreds of millions of knots. The speed at which relays turn into observers greatly increases.
4. **Simultaneous wavering and re-gripping.** Institutions that relied on the same scarcity standard (jobs, academic pedigree, hierarchy, the standards of marriage and childbirth, national narratives) waver together, and in reaction, re-gripping such as control, nostalgia, hostility, conspiracy narratives and hoarding strengthens at the same time. This is why the world today gives off both a sense of liberation and anxiety.

**Scarcity moves from matter to observation.** Where material scarcity has diminished, a new scarcity stands: observation, that is, attention. The independent observation a single knot can receive is still finite. The attention economy, the popularization of celebrity syndrome, the temptation of number inflation, and platform power are all faces of this new scarcity. That is why the key resource of the creation era is independent observers, and the operation that gathers them is showing (8.2).

**The creation era.** In domains where the other-field of survival has weakened, the knots' next choices lean toward the self-field (U9). What moves knots then is not survival but fun, that is, the board's search engine (L10). The boundary between work and play melts because the survival that was hidden inside work is leaving it. This is not a verdict that things are getting better but a verdict that the weight of the steering wheel is shifting.

**What this reading discriminates (R7, advance predictions).** So that it does not become post-hoc translation, the following is stated in advance.

1. The more a domain allows counterexamples to be tried directly, the sooner its old standards melt (content and software before manufacturing, manufacturing before housing and medicine).
2. The higher the relay ratio of a belief, the faster it collapses under few counterexamples; the more a belief has set through direct experience, the longer it holds out.
3. In domains where actual scarcity remains (housing, care, medicine, energy), narrative scarcity melts less and re-gripping is stronger.
4. The intensity of re-gripping is proportional to the number of institutions the wavering standard had been supporting.

If two or more of these four and the four added below — eight in all — are repeatedly wrong, this subsection is revised (U8).

**The speed of showing–seeing.** There are three reasons the present turn (Sections 8.3 and 8.4) has sped up.

**Simultaneous fall of three costs.** The cost of making counterexamples (realization), of spreading them (propagation), and of seeing them directly (observation) have fallen together. A single knot leaves results with AI and digital tools, platforms show them to hundreds of millions of knots, and those watching see them directly on screens or try them out. That is why the half-life of the taken-for-granted is getting shorter.

**The two effects of platforms.** The same platform speeds up both the propagation of counterexamples (loosening) and the copying of the same grain (firming) at once. That is why the present is an era in which the taken-for-granted loosens quickly and also one in which echo chambers set quickly.

**A reading of polarization.** Polarization is a state in which, on the same board, two clusters have become observers through different counterexamples and have each set internally through relaying. The two clusters are counterexamples to each other and, at the same time, other-fields trying to override each other.

**The two faces of AI.** AI is the tool that has most lowered the cost of making counterexamples and, at the same time, the largest relay device returning humanity's language as a single grain (L8). If it reflects each knot's yardstick, it increases observers; if it gives everyone the same answer, it increases relays.

**Additional advance predictions.** 5) Even on the same topic, the side that puts forth something to see gathers more independent observers, for longer, than the side that only makes claims. 6) The heavier the showing knot, the higher the rate at which what it shows is engraved as the right answer on the receiving side; showing permission as well lowers that rate. 7) Before set counterexamples pour out in a domain, creative works that shake the domain's taken-for-granted, and the common names of those works, spread first. 8) As platforms grow, counterexample propagation and echo chambers grow together, and re-gripping is strongest in the segment where counterexamples are most visible.

**Prohibited interpretation.** It is not said that scarcity has already disappeared. It is not said that because confusion has grown we are heading toward a better era. Phases differ by region and domain, and the whole Earth is not described as being at a single stage. Knots in re-gripping are not looked down upon. The weight simply lies on that side (U9, R9).

## 11. Safety Axioms and Prohibited Interpretations

The material realm is not the original, but because it is the expression on which the most relations have agreed for the longest time, its signals are not ignored.

**The reality of expression.** The state of the body, law, money and the actual behavior of others are read conscientiously. Not being deceived means not believing them to be the original; it does not mean not reading them.

**The independence of others' relations.** An other's relations reside in that other's conscious realm. I cannot cut them off or rewrite them; what I can change extends only to my self-relation and the relations I extend.

| Sentences we do not say | Grounds | What we say instead |
| --- | --- | --- |
| That person is ill because of their own consciousness | The body is the densest knot, woven by countless relations | That person's self-relation is one of the many relations that weave the body |
| The victim attracted that reality | It is common for the relations of the perpetrating side and of the structure to be thicker | The harm was imposed by outside relations overriding |
| If I view the other favorably, the other will change | My relation is a single strand | The relation I extend becomes one strand weaving the other |
| Since all is one, consent is unnecessary | A joint knot, too, preserves two self-relations; knots that overlap are erased | The closer we are, the heavier the other-field my observation becomes for the other, so not overriding the other's self-field becomes all the more important (U9) |
| The material realm is fake, so results are light too | The higher the density, the longer results remain | It is the same principle, but here the results of action remain for a long time |
| Having regained sovereignty, I need not take care of my body | Observation bearing on the body and biological layers is not a weight the self-field overcomes (U9, the layer table in 8.1) | Even with sovereignty, one keeps taking care of the body |
| The body ages and falls ill because of insufficient self-relation supply | Loosening is the balance of countless relations | The loosening of the body is not blamed on one person's mind |
| I can move another person with my mind from afar | Closeness in a thin layer does not transmit control across the mesh of the material realm | What I change extends only to the relations I extend |
| Another timeline arrived and the past changed | The high-density record did not change | The same object was seen from different density layers |

Judgments with large consequences in the material realm, such as medical, legal, financial and safety matters, are not concluded on the basis of this worldview alone. This worldview lets one read which relations' setting a situation is; the decision rests on current data and the judgment of the relevant field.

## 12. Regression-Blocking Protocol

Because this worldview did not exist before, people and AI alike slide back into learned human-centered and matter-centered thinking. When writing a new sentence, if the left column comes out, correct it to the right column.

| Slipped sentence | Why it is learned thinking | Sentence of this worldview |
| --- | --- | --- |
| A dream is a single-player server; reality is a multiplayer server | Presupposes that separate entities have separate consciousnesses | Both are expressions of the same field; only density differs |
| The world sets only when a human sees it | Restricts observers to humans | Relata require no qualification |
| I get tired in crowds because I am introverted | Takes the person as the basic unit and attaches attributes to it | If the grain of the relations bearing on one matches, it reinforces; if it misaligns, it creates friction |
| People of higher consciousness get tired in crowds | Interprets in terms of a ranking of high and low | It is not height but a misalignment of grain |
| Sovereignty is holding the right of action over the body | Mistakes the material realm for the original | Sovereignty is the state in which, in the weight of observation that determines the body's next choice, self-field > other-field (U9) |
| I and relation, the two compete | Places an owner separately outside relation | What competes is relation and relation |
| If I believe, the world changes | Makes the self-relation the sole author | The self-relation is one strand among many relations |
| Each has a field of their own | Posits a separate world for each entity | The field is one, and self-field and other-field are two forces on it |
| Once set, it stops | Sees only the surface and misses the inside | Setting is a state of turning rapidly with the same grain |
| Time flows the same for everything | Extends the material realm's clock to the whole universe | Time is agreed differently at each firmness and flows only for knots |
| I moved to another timeline | Takes memory as the reference reality | The same object was seen from a different density layer |

**R1.** If the subject of a new sentence is a human, check whether it still holds when the subject is replaced by a cat, a company, a stone or an electron. If it does not hold, it is an application to humans, not a foundational sentence of the worldview.

**R2.** If you are looking for a kernel, stop and first write down the relations bearing on it.

**R3.** If you are writing what is visible in the material realm as a conclusion, stop and trace one step further back to write down which relations it is the set expression of.

**R4.** If you are setting I against relation, put the self-relation back into the list of relations.

**R5.** If you are raising a sentence's status because its shape is the same as a physics sentence, stop. An external correspondence is only the same direction; status rises only through the chain of grounds within this worldview.

**R6.** If you are choosing one of cause and effect, as in "Does A create B, or does B set into A?", stop. Pairs that become each other's next conditions, such as the conscious realm and the material realm or the brain and experience, are written as two directions of one loop (U3, U4, Section 7.4).

**R7.** If you have explained some result with the worldview, ask whether the same explanation would have been possible had the opposite result occurred. If it would have, mark that sentence as a "translation" and do not call it an explanation (U8, Section 10.1).

**R8.** If you are counting observers by bodies, headcounts, accounts or follower numbers, stop and recount by the sources of independent division. The units visible in the material realm are not the units of observers (Section 2.2).

**R9.** If you are speaking of sovereignty in terms of the value and dignity of individuals ("each individual is precious") or stages of growth and development ("an observer who does not yet have the power to judge"), stop and rewrite it in terms of the U9 steering-wheel principle, that is, the weights of self-field and other-field.

## 13. Open Questions

**Carried over from before.**

1. How a relation is inscribed in its object knot — the cornerstone of this entire worldview.
2. An operational definition of density — reweaving frequency × consistency of grain, together with the stability of spacetime agreement, are candidate handles.
3. A definition of grain — the rhythm of being rewoven is a candidate answer.
4. Knots within knots — the inclusion relations of cells, bodies, persons, joint knots, companies and nations.
5. Non-human knots — the test bed for protocol R1.
6. How to strengthen the self-field.
7. The principle by which real difference arises in a single field — the exclusion of knots is a candidate partial answer.
8. Self-tightening.
9. The outer rate of change and the inner rate of circulation.

**Newly opened in this document.**

10. Why space is three-dimensional.
11. The status of the present — block universe versus presentism.
12. Why tasks using the body take longer in lucid dreams.
13. The status of "other beings" in experiences.
14. Whether the material realm as a whole exists as many divided worlds.
15. An independent theorem connecting the ½ of the galaxy equation and spin ½.

**Two fundamental questions this document could not open.** Why the division is drawn precisely at that position. Which of several possible histories is actually recorded.
